Ahhh ... it's coming. Another year older, another year wise... well, older for sure. Less than three weeks until I turn dum dum DUMMMMMMMM 24. 24. What is 24? A popular TV show? There isn't anything that I can find about 24. I can't rent a car by myself .... who came up with that one .... heck, 24 will be nearly totally lackluster as far as I can tell thus far. But maybe that's just me. I mean, how much did I concern myself with 23 ... not much. 21 was fun, I remember (unlike some people) most of the fun events of 21. 21 is blackjack, 21 is legal to drink. 21 is a fun number.
So as a 24 year old citizen of Indiana ... I will be a hall director working with freshmen making $14K, be debt free and on my way to earning an MBA. That doesn't sound too bad at all. How many people can leave grad school debt free? No, really, I don't know, how many? It doesn't seem like a large percentage.
The financial aid people were suprised that I graduated from NAU with only $900 in debt, and that was simply one loan so that I could start establishing some credit. That should be paid off by May I figure.
I realize that debt is almost a given when it comes to getting older. I am sure I will have plenty of expensive things to pay off in my life. Like a house. But I don't forsee a house in the next three years. A car ... but Kelly is hanging in there ... she has a little squeak and her floodlights don't turn on properly, but I think I can get those fixed up and she can last me the remainder of my time here ... I have faith in her. She got me out here hauling a U-haul :)
What job I will have after I get my masters ... I don't even know. Maybe by that time I will have improved my poker game so much that I just do that for a while. If you haven't been following my xanga journal, you may not know that I have a great affinity for No Limit Poker ... I play in a free tournament now three nights a week. Met lots of great people ... have gone through nearly a bottle of Febreze because the games are held at bars and many people smoke.
Will I go the route of managing a resort/country club? I have lots of experience at country clubs. Will I be an agent in sports or entertainment? That sounds like a fun, but tedious environment. Maybe something that I am not aware of yet? Perhaps. Be an Area Coordinator or Director of Residence Life? ... I don't think so Tim. I love res life, but I know there will come a time when I need to move on from the college environment.
It's 3am, and I am awake. This is becoming more common than I would like. I can't sleep. I have a meeting in 5 hours. Some may say, you might as well just stay awake. And to those people I would say ... you just might be right ... but then I have to find something to do for 5 hours ... online poker perhaps.
Then I can just go right into tomorrow's meeting, hang out in the office for a while until I have the first RA candidate interview which shoudl end at 11am. Then I could come back, make out the agenda for the staff meeting to be held tonight, then take a nap until 3pm when I have a one on one ... then take another nap until I have to go to RHA at 9, then staff meeting at 10, then ... maybe ... get a full night of sleep from 11pm-8am. A guy can dream can't he? ... well, not when he can't sleep ...
