If fat was a commodity, the trade deficit would invert

No really though. I know, logically speaking, just because most Americans are fat, most fat people are not necessarily American...but I'd be willing to go with most are anyway. Really, they're everywhere. Taking pictures in holy places. Huffing and puffing up (and even down) the Spanish Steps. Doing other obscene fat American things.

Anyway! Vacanze Romane!
Roman thoughts:
1. I went to another country yesterday. The Holy See. We need more countries inside our big cities in America.

2. I like the water fountains on the sidewalks. They are always going and you can drink from them, I think. Or wash your hands in them. Mostly they are just neat looking. Also, in the bathrooms by St. Peter's Basilica, there are urinals that are, apparently eternally vigilant and constantly flushing. All of this flowing water was evocative of the Holy Spirit, in my mind. No idea where this is going yet? I had a Holy Pee in the Holy See, that's where this is going.

3. There is a lot of renovation in Rome. Some of the buildings under renovation feature large pieces of fabric across the front, with a painted on image of what the building will presumably look like when completed. It's a neat idea, apparently so neat that some tourists like to take pictures of said buildings. One tourist, in fact, walking backwards to fit the whole facade into the frame, ended up leaning back onto a millenia-old obelisk, pilfered from Egypt and erected in Rome by Caesar Augustus before Jesus was born.

4. Why are our churches ugly?

5. Why is everything about America so ugly, now that I think about it? Rome has, say, the Trevi Fountain. Quite nice. Denver, for instance, has...those big dancy people by the DPAC? Rome has an intersection with a fountain on each corner dedicated to a different deity. Fort Collins has...erm, that neat bear and salmon thing in Old Town? We can't all be Rome, but really...try a bit more? Please?

6. There was something else good, but I seem to have forgotten it. Which is a shame, because it was good. But I am hungry now, so off I go to eat some dinner downstairs at oh! Right! If you can tell how it swam, it's too soon to be food.
