I adore the image of her draped in his too big coat.

“So for the price of your peace of mind, we rouse the whole house and cause a scandal,” she replied.

In his best lawyer’s voice, Matthew said, “You chose to come here, in the dead of night, wearing that. If there is any scandal to be had, I shall pin it all on you.”

“My champion.” Mary’s voice was dry, and he knew she was making a face. He also knew that she was smiling.

That is just marvelous banter. It sounds so very them.

This is a very worthy sequel.

Both of these pieces are just so beautiful and lovely and Matthew's feelings, both on his blindness and on his fear over Mary leaving, are kind of heartbreaking but then you just build it up 'cause they are going to build this life together, and just, ugh, it fills the heart. I kind of can't imagine adding more but I hope you can 'cause lovely.

Also, YOUR JOURNAL TITLE! Prufrock is one of my greatest loves!

Thank you so, so much! I was led to imagine a sequel after I realized how tickled I was by the idea of blind!Matthew/Mary interactions, and while I didn't envision a follow-up to this one, I will definitely write one if it comes to mind.

Prufrock is so fantastic, right? I recently had to do an assignment where I needed to use eight consecutive lines of a poem and the first one that sprang to mind was, of course, this one.
