Summary: Spencer finds out about one of Derek's fears, and gets to come to his rescue.
Spencer glanced up from his book when he heard a sound that could only be described as a squeal come from the bathroom. That was odd, considering Derek was the one who had just walked up there to take a shower, and Derek definitely did not squeal.
“Derek?” He called as he made his way up the stairs.
“Baby! Spencer, come here!” Derek responded, and his voice was just panicked enough to make Spencer skip the last couple of steps. “And bring a shoe!”
A shoe? Spencer paused at the top of the stairs, brow furrowed from curiosity, as he looked for a spare shoe. Seeing one peeking out from their closet, Spencer picked it up before making his way to the bathroom.
He had to stop himself from laughing out loud at the sight before him. Derek was standing on top of their bathroom counter with a towel haphazardly thrown around his waist, beads of water collecting and rolling down his skin. The shower was still running.
“Um, Derek? Why are you up there? And why is the shower still on?”
His boyfriend was at a loss for words, it seemed, because all Derek did in response was extend an arm to point towards the shower.
Following his finger, Spencer looked into the shower, where he saw a medium-sized spider perched on top of the shower head.
“A spider? Derek, I thought there was something wrong!” Spencer said, tossing the shoe out into their bedroom.
“There is something wrong, Spencer! There is a spider. In our shower. Kill it, baby. Please.”
Reaching in to the shower to turn off the water, Spencer laughed. “Derek Morgan, I never would have thought that you would be afraid of spiders.” But when he turned around, Derek had apparently decided it was safe to move again, because he had already hopped off the counter and was long gone from the bathroom.
Spencer grabbed a tissue from the cabinet and reached into the shower, grabbing the spider by one of its legs before opening the window and setting it outside on the window sill.
When he came out of the bathroom, Derek had pulled on a pair of gym shorts and pacing the room.
“Did you kill it?”
“No-“ Spencer began.
“What? Baby, why? Did you see that thing? It was huge!”
“Derek, it was a grand-daddy long leg. They’re harmless.” Spencer decided to bite his tongue on his comment about the size of the spider. There was something, however, that he couldn’t resist.
“Baby?” He asked, his hands reaching to ghost along Derek’s ribcage before wrapping his arms around his waist and resting his chin on his shoulder.
“What?” Derek asked, leaning back against Spencer.
“You squealed like a little girl. You know that, right?”
A pause. Spencer could feel Derek trying to come up with an answer, a reason. A sigh.
“Fine. I squealed like a little girl.”
Spencer laughed and nuzzled into Derek’s neck, pressing a kiss there. “It’s okay. You keep kicking down doors, and I’ll take care of any more spiders that come our way. Deal?”
“Oh baby, we so have a deal.”
