2005 In Review

I guess its been a pretty big year. I didn't really realize how big it truly was until last night, while hanging out with a friend who has spent the past year in Europe. I kept saying "oh, and remember that..." and she didn't, cos she wasn't here. Go Figure.

In terms of my personal life, I hit my 21st birthday a month ago - officially an adult huh! Pete and I will be married in 6 days. The wedding has occupied alot of my free time over the past year, but it all pays off now as i don't have too much to do now. We bought a house this year which we love very much, and live here with our kittens. The kittens were a very important addition to our home this year. Since moving into our first home together in May we have had numerous people to stay for long periods of time. Jess lived here for a month, Paula (petes cousin) stayed with us 3 times, around 2 months in total. Thad, petes friend from the states, has been living here for the past month.

Pete and I opened our juice bar in January along with the new Subway. They have kept us really busy, work wise, and have supplied jobs for alot of our friends. Whats the point in owning a business if you can't give your family and friends jobs? I have come to understand the business itself and appreciate it much better. I'm learning to love the job and be proud of what we have from an owners perspective. Pete has helped me and taught me to be motivated about our stores and love what I do.

I have filled my evenings with rehearsing for a number of shows. I started the year in my first real lead role in Little Shop Of Horrors, and have managed to keep my standard high enough to score a couple more. In terms of shows, Little Shop was in february, then i went in to JC Superstar immediately after with Showbiz. I took a short break until Delusion Of Darkness with Dramasoc, then Witches Of Eastwick with Riccarton Players and straight into Hair rehearsals for Musoc. Delusion was the first PLAY i've done since high school. It was a bit of a challenge, as I rely alot on my singing to get me by in shows, but I learnt alot from it which I know helped me pick up my next 2 leads.

Apart from shows, I've performed numerous gigs. most recently, I sang at the Westpac Trust Centre for the Special Olympics Closing Ceremony. that was an awesome experience as I got to do BVs for Shane Cortese (wank) and a half hour set on my own. It was probably the biggest audience I've ever performed to - around 10 or 15 thousand.

i'm very excited to be heading into 2006. This is a big year for Peter and I, being our first year married, but also because our first Subway (ENTIRELY ours) opens in March and then Rolleston after that. I plan to audition for Nasda at the end of the year, and have Hair to look forward to in February. Pete and I plan to get away to Europe around August, which will be our belated Honeymoon. My school is having a reunion too, so it'll be really weird to go back all married and 'grown up'. I do feel like I've changed alot this year. I am more mature as far as i think and my lifestyle now is very adult. I never thought i'd be 21 and married with a business or 2.

anyways, I guess thats it. I know it sounds lame but I feel like 2006 is the first year of the rest of my life. I have been one name, one identity since I was born, and once we are married next weekend I will be a new one.

xoxo
