The bar had been really small. Barely even noticeable in the dark, if people hadn't have gone there regularly they would have missed it by just walking past it. He on the other hand, knew of the bar's whereabouts but the man was now leaning against a wall rubbing the back of his neck nervously. His attire was blue jeans a dark blue button shirt with a black jacket that had been unzipped. He sighed as he realized how much luck he truly had... absolute zero. NO LUCK WHAT SO EVER. Today just isn't my day... not at all..
It wasn't really fair to Matsuda that this was the third time that Duo was coming to see him and the second time that it had been because of Envy, but he just couldn't help it! The fact that he'd actually been so upset that he'd cursed just sent a pang of concern through the pilot and he'd practically hopped into his Gundam right then and there to go see the man. Luckily he'd waited, though, since apparently Matsuda wasn't going to be at his apartment anyway. Duo had done a quick search and easily found the bar that Matsuda had told him he was going to, but nevertheless it helped to have the man waiting for him outside. Duo smiled to himself and went to lean against the wall next to him. "Hey."
"Hey. Well.. I wouldn't want to go in there..." Matsuda said slightly while looking away from Duo he looked down the road as if waiting to hear something but yet it wasn't coming. He sighed a little before looking back at Duo. "All you really have to do it open the door.. and you'll know." The man pushed open the door slightly in which the other could hear shouts and screaming and then something smash against the door. Matsuda shook his head again as he sighed. "I can't catch a break... I nearly got smacked in the face with a beer bottle."
Duo just chuckled and shook his head. No, this was definitely not the kind of place that Matsuda would fit in at all, which was a good thing, so long as he didn't go in and end up getting himself killed. "Sounds like this ain't the place to be tonight for anyone who doesn't wanna get arrested tonight," he said, which was definitely Duo, and he had the feeling that Matsuda was on that list too. "Why don't we just go buy ourselves a case abeer and we can go get smashed in your livin' room."
"I'm just waiting..." Matsuda replied as he looked at Duo. He stood up straight as he heard the faint sounds of the sirens. He grabbed hold of Duo's arm and walked down the street. He smiled over at him while shaking his head. "No, we're been at my place too long.. why not pick somewhere else? Anything else.. the mall.. a bookstore.. SOMEWHERE the movies.. ANYTHING? BUT MY OWN DAMN PLACE."
Matsuda didn't have to tell Duo twice to get away from the bar as the sirens started blairing and he easily fell in step at the man's side thinking of what to do and where they could go. He slipped his hand down into Matsuda's when he started cursing again and gave it what was meant to be a comforting squeeze. "Alright," he said, "I got my Scythe stashed at a warehouse not too far from here. Why don't we stick with the case abeer and we can go get snockered over there?"
"....a Scythe?" Matsuda asked while raising his eyebrow. He knew that as some kind of weapon but what in the world was Duo thinking. The man took in a breath before letting it out and smiling over towards the other. "As long as it not just beer.. some sake perhaps?"
Duo blinked at the man and wondered if he'd really neglected to ever mention his Deathscythe to Matsuda and . . . well, of course, he remembered, because Matsuda still didn't know what he was. Well, that was definitely going to have to change. "Yeah, sure, we can get whatever y'want. Prolly safer if you buy it too, just in case," he said, giving the man a wink.
Matsuda chuckled while walking down the street. "Fine I'll get it... this time. Stay out here make sure nothing happens." He smiled as he walked into the next alcoholic store he waved to the clerk. The man walked around for a little bit before picking up a couple of bottles one kind of big and some small ones. He walked towards the front paying for the things. Matsuda grabbed the bag with a smile before walking back out. "Alright.. well that wasn't too bad."
Duo just nodded and saluted teasingly, leaning up against the storefront and "keeping watch" until Matsuda came back out again. "Alright then!" He hooked the man's arm through his and began leading him back the way that the pilot had come, towards the abandoned warehouse. "Time for me to introduce you to my Deathscythe, I guess." That was going to be an interesting conversation for a cop to be having with a teenage terrorist.
"Oh.. Deathscythe... wait.." Matsuda tilted his head to the side before looking over at the other. He raised an eyebrow looking slightly confused. He heard about such things as Gundams or something along the lines. He may have even came across a series but Matsuda had been too busy at the time to even considering it. The man blinked again as he let the other lead him.
Duo just shook his head and decided to wait to explain until they got to the warehouse, partly because it would be easier to explain, and partly because he didn't want to talk about the Gundam out in the open like this. Yzak was right, this wasn't a warzone for either of them, but you could never be too careful and training was a hard thing to break on some things, especially the ones that made sense. Once they got near the warehouse, Duo tugged Matsuda off to a side alley that was out of the way and out of view of the busy street and led him around through a maze of back-alleys and around to the back parking lot of the large building where he'd broken in through one of the doors. He stepped inside first to make sure that no one else was there and then motioned Matsuda in, hitting the overhead lights and revealing the huge Gundam. "Matsuda, meet Deathscythe Hell. Scythe, this is Matsuda."
Matsuda was now suddenly confused by getting dragged around alleyways and such. Yeah he had been around alleyways before this was just suddenly different. He blinked as he waited for Duo to finish leading him to where ever he was taking him. The man's eyes widened as soon as he entered the warehouse. He looked back over at Duo with a smile. "Was the introduction necessary?"
"O'course it was," Duo said, putting on a look of shock. "I gotta properly introduce you to Scythe! She's like family!" He looked back over at the Gundam and wondered if Matsuda realized how true it was. The Gundam was as much a part of any family he could have considered his own as Solo or Father Maxwell or Sister Helen had ever been. "But, now that you two met, let's get wasted, huh? No point in makin' ya buy all that booze fer nothin'!"
"Alright ALRIGHT. Don't get all defensive." Matsuda chuckled while looking over at the Gundam he tilted his head a bit before looking over at the other. "So.. your a terrorist by all means.. but still wants to save the world from war?" He asked as he kept hold of the bag making sure to not drop it since he wasn't sure how Duo would react or anything else. This still all confused him pretty much and he wasn't sure what the other would do but he did know one thing he could trust Duo.
Duo stiffened slightly at the use of the word "terrorist"; he didn't know why but it just made him uncomfortable when other people used it, like they were accusing him of just being some senseless murderer, which he wasn't, dammit! And the fact that it was Matsuda saying it . . . He plastered his grin right back on his face, though and spun around to face the man. "We're fightin' the people that're fightin' the war so they'll stop, that's the basic gist of it."
"So your trying to look like a hero but get accused of being a murder... brilliant.." Matsuda rolled his eyes a bit as he started to head towards the Gundam. He turned around while smiling at Duo. He shrugged a bit as he tilted his head to the side. "Aren't you going to show me up?"
"We're not tryin' to look like anything," Duo corrected, unable to really help himself, "just tryin' to stop anymore war orphans from bein' born." Before Matsuda was able to start asking about that, though, Duo grinned up at his Deathscythe and shook his head. "I would, but it's kinda cramped up there. No good for gettin' plastered, believe you me." Instead, he just pulled over an empty crate and plopped down on in in front of the Gundam and nodded at the man to do the same.
Matsuda wiggled his hips a bit before walking over to Duo. He placed the bag down in front of the other before pulling an empty crate over towards the side of the other. He sat down next to him before looking over at the other. "Cramped or not anywhere is good I guess. But to stop such a thing is always good. Since everyone at least deserved some kind of parents.. some kind of family. But let's not get into that... let's get into the fact that one.. I hate Envy and he needs to shut his mouth. What did I ever do to him to deserve such insults?"
Duo was very glad that Matsuda had decided to not get into the subject of the family everyone apparently "deserved." If everyone "deserved" a family, then why did all of Duo's always end up dying? Even the original Deathscythe had been destroyed in what may as well have been a public execution. But they weren't talking about that, so the pilot latched onto the change in topic and grabbed one of the bottles out of the bag, not even looking at what it was supposed to be before just twisting open the cap and taking a swig. "You were nice to 'im."
"NICE to him?! WHAT?! What kind of messed up punishment is that?! That's makes no sense!!" Matsuda sighed in frustrated as he made his hands into fists as he glared down at the ground. He shook his head before moving quickly and grabbing the bottle Duo took out. The man unwrapped the top while uncapping it as well before taking a sip from it. "Seriously who in their right mind would do that?!"
"Someone that was manipulated and deliberately raised to be psychotic," Duo replied with a shrug. Realizing that was probably not the answer that Matsuda needed, so he sighed and gave a shrug, leaning back on his hands on the crate and looked up at Deathscythe Hell. "No one said it made any sense, man. He thinks you're some kinda threat to him and hell if I know why." He reached up and set his hand on the back of Matsuda's neck, gently rubbing and trying to be comforting -- he didn't like seeing the man so upset. "Don't let it get to ya, Matsu. He's just a really disturbed guy and he can't help it."
Matsuda sighed as he slowly relaxed he leaned slightly into Duo's touch as he handed the bottle back towards the other knowing the other might want some and he didn't want to hog the bottle to himself. He didn't even know which one it was since he had brought a big bottle of Sake some smirnoff Vodka and some malts to go with it. The man shifted a bit on the crate as he relaxed more.
Duo took the bottle and took another swig before skooting his crate over so he was closer to Matsuda. "Man, the people that don't like you," he said, "unless they're tryin' t'kill ya, they don't matter. Just ban him from your journal, y'know? And stop commenting to 'im and then you probably won't even hafta hear from him again. You got people that care aboutcha, no matter what he says." He handed the bottle back to the man.
"I'm not going to ban him. I can't do that.." Matsuda sighed again as he took the bottle back from the other and taking a swig. He sighed a bit before smiling. "People seeing me as a threat is kind of funny. I don't see as to why he would.. I just don't get it.." He replied as he held the bottle a bit before tightening his grip around it. The man took a longer swig of the drink before handing it back to the other his cheeks slightly flushed. "I just don't understand why he would feel threatened by me..."
Duo skooted even closer, dropping his arm to wrap it around the man's waist, crossing his legs towards him and taking the bottle back. "Maybe he just knows that you're cuter than 'im," he said with a wink. "People're usually intimidated by more attractive people, y'know?" Actually, Duo had absolutely no idea what Envy had against Matsuda and he refused to tell anyone. It was just strange and Duo had no explanation for it and he hated that it was happening to Matsuda.
"I doubt that.." Matsuda gave him a small smile as he shifted a bit closer towards Duo. He knew the other was getting closer on purpose he didn't mind it at all. But everything that was happening to him considering with Envy just didn't seem right. It confused him, he had been nice this whole time but yet maybe he should just ignore Envy. He sighed while looking off towards the side looking puzzled as if actually thinking about it a bit more.
Duo took a long swig from the bottle, trying to decide what in the hell to do. He could reassure Matsuda all he wanted, but it didn't help that he really truly honestly had no idea why Envy didn't like him and it frustrated Duo to hell since it was his job to know things and to find them out. He finally dropped the bottle from his lips and just held it in both hands, looking down at it and watching the liquid inside swirl with the movement of it. "Maybe it's time for a change-a topic. I kinda wanted to talk to you about that entry anyway . . . "
Matsuda blinked a bit as he head lowered as his eyes drifted off towards the side. He shifted a bit on the crate as he realized that this was the main topic of this meeting not only just about Envy. "Y-yea... I know...." He gripped the edge of the crate a bit as if trying to steady his own nerves. He finally reached out towards the bag taking out another bottle. He kept the bottle into his hands not opening it up.
Duo had been about to give Matsuda the bottle in his hands, but when he saw him take out another bottle, he just looked back at his own and started chugging until it was half empty. "Y'know that I got a thing for Heero. I mean, I've been fallin' for him since the day we met. Thing is . . . I know what my chances are with him -- pretty much slim to none long as this war goes on -- and hey, I wouldn't expect 'im to try and start somethin' like that in the middle of a war. That kinda distraction with a teammate," or whatever the hell you wanted to call them, "can be deadly."
Matsuda looked over at Duo as he kept the other bottle in his hands. He smiled a tad bit as he listened to the other talk. He sighed before uncapping the bottle he had. "Anything like that can be distracting. Considering you might worry too much about the other and not pay attention at the mission at hand.... but what are you truly trying to say?" He asked as he turned his head towards Duo with a small smile.
That made Duo grin. "I just wanna make sure y'understand what's goin' on 'fore I offer you anything. There're prolly a few other things we should clear up too 'fore you make a decision, but here goes." He set the bottle down on the ground and pulled both of his legs up onto the crate, crossing them and turning so that he was facing Matsuda. "I like you, Matsuda. A lot. You deserve t'have someone that'll give ya a serious, meaningful relationship, that'll love ya more'n anyone and wanna grow old with ya an' everythin'. But until y'find 'em, I'm more'n willin' ta . . . keep ya company."
Matsuda chuckled slightly at that while putting his own bottle down on the ground. He turned to face the other while grabbing hold of Duo's hands looking him straight in the face. "Now.. I do understand that you are head over hills for Heero, Duo. When he comes around and realizes whatever it maybe.. I know that you will be his. Because for one.. I don't want to try to make anything more of what we could have because threesomes.. generally don't work at well.. or at least.. I believe they don't. But..." He leaned in a bit slightly rubbing their noses together. "I wouldn't mind that."
Duo just smiled down at their hands as the man took his and god wasn't he just the sweetest fucking thing in the world? He didn't look up until he saw Matsuda leaning in and he pressed their foreheads lightly together, squeezing the man's hands lightly. "You're gonna make someone a helluva husband one day, y'know that? Can't say I don't envy whoever it's gonna be. But hey, I'm happy t'just catch yer attention." Duo tilted his head just the slightest bit necessary and kissed him.
Matsuda shifted a bit as he squeezed the other's hands before slowly kissing the other back. He flushed slightly more as he took in what the other was saying. How could that possibly ever be? But it was likely it could happen one day he'll just not know when and just have to wait. The man slowly pulled away blushing even more as he shifted his weight. "How could you not get anyone's attention?"
God that had been just so damn sweet and Duo was definitely looking forward to doing it again. How the hell had he managed to snag such a sweetheart the pilot would never know, but he knew that he sure as hell didn't deserve him, which was why he was definitely going to find someone that deserved Matsuda. "Easy," he replied finally with a wink, "s'parta the job to not get noticed 'til ya want to." He knew that that wasn't what the man had been asking, but oh well.
Matsuda smiled shaking his head a little. He shifted a bit more closer towards Duo. "You know that's not what I was asking. But close enough I guess." He still held onto the other's hands his eyes widened a bit as he realized something. There was a bit more to Duo that he didn't know of but then again, it didn't matter not now and probably won't matter. "I was gonna ask a couple of questions.. but.. I think I'll pass and just stay like this.. I don't want to ruin any kind of moment that might happen."
