What Duo needed was something to help him calm down after Envy had riled him up so badly, and he still didn't understand what the problem was! Okay, so he probably could've asked the homunculus first if he could bring Matsuda to the wedding, but that was no reason to suspect that he was plotting against him! It was just stupid and, since he had to talk to Matsuda to figure out if they were still going to go to the stupid thing anyway, what better way to waste time than at the man's apartment? He'd been given the address already, he'd just neglected to mention to Matsuda that he'd be stopping by, which was part of the fun, after all. Duo hopped up the stairs and knocked on the door once he found it. "Hey, Matsuuuuuuu," he called, "guess whooooooo!"

He sighed as he realized that the computer needed to be turned off for a while. The man decided to go cook himself something to eat. As he was humming to himself gathering pots and other foods to make a curry dish he heard a knock at the door. Who in their right mind would be knocking now? He blinked as he heard exactly who it was. Matsuda smiled as he made his way to the door and opening it up. His dress shirt sleeves where rolled up and the shirt was also un-tucked. "Hello, Duo.. you could have told me you were coming over."

Duo just grinned and decided he needed to get poor Matsuda some casual-time clothes to lounge around in, not that he didn't look good in his suit. "I could-a," he agreed and winked at the man, "but then it would'nt-a been a surprise!" At least he hadn't stolen a motorcycle this time to get there, which a policeman like Matsuda would appreciate if he actually knew that the boy had stolen a bike the last time he'd gone to meet him. That would have been too dangerous, though, since he would have been reckless on the bike if he'd taken one which probably would have led him to being pulled over and then having to explain to the police that he didn't have a license (if he let them catch him), and then a whole big mess when they asked where he lived and who his parents were and how they could contact them. Way too much of a hastle, so he'd walked instead.

Matsuda shook his head as he opened the door a bit more for Duo. "Well... that is true. But you caught me when I'm cooking." He replied waiting for the other to come in fully before shutting the door. The man ran back towards the kitchen as he heard the water bowling, making sure that it didn't overspill and burn things or make any kind of mess. He sighed as he poured in the rice calling back over towards him. "You can come in the kitchen if you want!"

Duo was following him in there anyway and just grinned as he came up beside the man. "Well, you don't gotta stop cooking for me," he said, bumping Matsuda lightly with his hip. He leaned against the counter and crossed his arms just watching the man for a few moments while he cooked his dinner, feeling a little bad that he'd interrupted him, but it wasn't as if he really had to stop cooking just because Duo had shown up. "So, Matsu," he said finally, "how're you feelin' about Envy's wedding? I mean, didja really wanna go?"

Matsuda chuckled a bit while blushing slightly as he continued to cook his meal. He was going to make sure to make more just so the other could eat as well. The man glanced over at Duo as he slowly stirred the curry. "It doesn't matter if I go or not. Besides if I do end up going I'll get constant insults from his mouth in which sooner or later I might have to stuff a sock."

That would definitely be something worth seeing, Matsuda shoving a sock down Envy's throat . . . or just in his mouth. Duo could do the extra shove to get it down his throat. He chased the thought away, though, and looked back up at Matsuda. "Much as I'd wanna see that," he said with a devious grin, "I don't wanna have you go and just have a bad time 'cause Envy's a jerk. Far as I'm concerned we can find somethin' better t'do." And with better company. It would be a shame to miss the Hitachiin twins, but they apparently had issues to work out with Envy and playing around with them would just cause more problems than Duo needed to deal with.

Matsuda chuckled as he looked at Duo while shrugging a bit. "Even if we do go.. I'll be staying away from Envy the whole time. Besides who do you think I'll be giving my attention to?" He smiled as he continued to stir the pot once finished he took down two plates. The man put a huge bunch of rice onto both of the plates before putting the fired vegetables and baked potatoes on top of it. Matsuda picked up one of the plates and handed it to Duo. "Here you must hungry."

Duo blinked down at the plate and grinned before taking it. "Thanks, man, you didn't hafto make any for me," he said. And he seriously started wondering how how Matsuda wasn't already taken. Maybe it was a confidence issue, because it sure as hell couldn't be a personality issue since the man was like Quatre only twelve years older and not rich or blonde. Which wasn't to say that Matsuda wasn't just as adorable as Quatre, because he was and, not for the first time, considered just taking the man all for himself but . . . well, it wouldn't have been fair to Matsuda considering Duo's own heart belonged to someone else and he wasn't going to lead the man on like that, nor did he think he deserved anything less than a meaningful relationship, not just a fling that at least one partner knew wasn't going to lead to anything. Besides, Duo was in the middle of a war and that was not the time to start a relationship.

Matsuda chuckled while shaking his head. "You're the one that showed up. I always make more for left overs. So what if I won't have any?" He took his own plate and headed out of the kitchen towards the small living room taking a seat on the couch leaving room for Duo to sit if he wanted to. The man shifted a bit getting himself comfortable before he started to eat the food. "Mm.. it's better then the last time."

Duo followed the man back into the living room and plopped down right next to him on the couch, sniffing hungrily at the food before digging in. "Hey, I oughta take you to Quatre's place sometime," he said around a mouthful. "Free three-course gourmet meals every day, three hot meals a day and you can eat 'til you're stuffed, it's like heaven. Except for the heat, but, y'know, deserts are like that. And he's got the A/C goin'. I don't think Quatre realizes how good he has it sometimes."

"I'm your average middle class. If I want three meals a day.. I can go to my parent's house. My mother makes the best food! But then my father nags and makes fun of me all the time. I'll be afraid to even bring a date there." Matsuda smiled as he continued to eat making sure to not talk around any food that may be in his mouth. Sometimes if he did that pieces would go flying but since he didn't want to clean it up he just made sure to chew and swallow before talking.

Well, Duo had never really know what it was like to be your average middle class since, for the past thirteen years he'd fallen under the category of Homeless Street Kid, but that definitely sounded nice, even with the nagging father. "Well, man, I can't really help you out with that part, you'll hafta figure that out on yer own since I guess it'll kinda be necessary once you get a date. I could always ask around, I mean I'd hate-ta just go ahead and set you up then throw you to the wolves."

Matsuda blushed lightly as he finished his food. He placed the plate down onto the coffee table before looking over at the teen. He shifted his weight a bit on the couch as he looked down at the carpet as if thinking. "You could always ask around.. that would be sweet of you to do so. But really who would want to date me?"

That was probably the first time that Duo had been called "sweet" and it just made him grin. "Actually," he said, "I'm havin' a harder time figurin' out who wouldn't wanna date you. I mean, even taken chicks are hittin' on you, so why aren't the singles snatchin' you up fast as they can? I mean," the pilot continued, counting out on his fingers, "you're cute, you got a good job, great personality. Doesn't make any sense, if you ask me."

Matsuda blushed slightly more as he heard the other say even taken chicks are hitting on him. He look slowly back up at Duo while looking at him. "I'm sure whoever you have in mind.. I wouldn't mind giving them a chance. But I would like to find someone who will like me for me and not care if I can be an idiot."

"O'course," Duo agreed, giving the man a wink, "I wouldn't set you up with someone who wouldn't appreciate ya. And don't put yourself down like that, everyone can be an idiot sometimes. I haven't seen you be an idiot, just your sweet, adorable, shy little self. Hell, I'd snatch you up myself except for the whole age thing -- can't imagine it'd be too good an idea for a cop to date a minor."

Matsuda chuckled while looking over at him. "Well... it wouldn't be such a good idea because we're not supposed to. But I do know it happens sometimes just that it's all in secret. I guess.... because I'm trying to not be a dork..." He sighed slightly as he looked away from the other. He shifted again as he thought slightly to himself. "I just don't know really..."

"But what's the fun in keepin' it all a secret?" Duo teased, winking at Matsuda again. "Maybe that's parta your problem, though," he said, putting his plate down on the coffee table. "Maybe you're tryin' too hard to be somethin' you're not. You want someone that'll like you for who you are, but you're tryin' t'get 'em by bein' someone else. Kinda contradictory there, ain't it?"

"Yeah.. it is kinda contradictory..." Matsuda replied with a sigh. He didn't understand it himself but he knew that he shouldn't try being someone he wasn't. Hell even if he tried it at work it failed all the time. Matsuda smiled a bit while looking at Duo. "I guess I shouldn't try doing something like that then.."

Duo scooted over and wrapped a friendly arm around the man. "That's the ticket! Just be yourself, Matsu; believe me, it's plenty good enough and it's not the dorkiness that's keepin' your potential soul mate away, 'cause they're gonna find it just as charmin' as I do." There was absolutely nothing wrong with dorkiness, after all, and on people like Matsuda, it just added that extra something should have had people falling all over him. So what was the missing piece of the puzzle? That was what Duo was determined to find out.

Matsuda smiled as he looked over at Duo as he relaxed a bit. He shifted a little bit as he slowly thought over things. He sighed a bit more before looking away. "Yeah but... there is always that potential that nothing will happen.. but I guess you'll never know, ne?"

"Exactly. Y'can't leave everything up to fate; she's got a lot to do! If something's gonna happen, it's gonna happen 'cause you made it happen." Nothing would ever get done if all everyone did was lay around and just assume that some mystical all-knowing being was fiddling around with their lives and making things happen even if they never got up off their asses. "Ya gotta be a little aggressive when it comes to these kinda things. Make 'em feel wanted, y'know?"

"I know that. I want them to feel wanted.. but I would like to feel wanted as well.." Matsuda replied sadly as he looked at Duo. He smiled a tiny bit before stretching a bit more. He leaned back against the arm rest. "But we do need to decide if we're going to the wedding or not. I don't want you to get into trouble because you didn't go."

Well that was something that Duo would have to explain to Matsuda later -- that, if you find the right person, then all of the effort you put into making them feel wanted, they'll return it right back to you. They did need to talk about the wedding, though, in the meantime. Duo sighed and crossed his arms behind his head, letting his eyes close lazily. "You let me worry about him," he said. "All I wanna know from you is do you wanna go."

"Well... technically I'm your date. So... if you are going to go.. I'll go with you. If you’re not going to go then we'll do something else." Matsuda smiled as he looked over at the other one before grabbing a couch pillow and hugging it to his chest. He pressed his face slightly into it making his eyes only being shown from the top. He needed to get more comfy since now being in his work clothing was making him uncomfortable.

Matsuda was going to make Duo make the decision, he could tell, and he didn't really like that. He knew that he didn't really want to go anymore, but if Matsuda wanted to, then why shouldn't he? And it would be unfair to make him go alone, especially with that crowd -- they'd eat the poor guy alive and he'd never know what hit him. Well, maybe not quite, since he seemed to be growing a bit more of a backbone. Duo sighed, again, and glanced at the man out of the corner of his eye. "Well, y'sure sounded like you wanted to go before."

"If I go.. I go.. if not no biggie. Besides I wouldn't mind being your date if you do go. But it's clear that you don't want to go. So I don't want to go and have you be forced to go because of me." Matsuda replied as he watched Duo smiling widely behind the pillow. He kept it close as he waited for Duo to reply.

The pilot thought that over a bit before actually answering, trying to decide what was the best course of action. If they did go, then Matsuda would probably enjoy himself, with the exception of anything Envy decided to pull, since he clearly had a thing for weddings; and if they didn't go, even though they could easily find something else to do, it would only make an enemy of Envy for both of them. "I guess we can make an appearance," he said. "And if we get bored then we can just sneak out and find somethin' else to do."

"Sounds like a plan to me. I don't mind only staying there until after the ceremony and leaving after that. I'm sure Envy wouldn't miss us either way." Matsuda replied with a small smile. He shrugged as he hugged the pillow a bit more. He looked up at the ceiling slightly in thought as he tilted his head to the side. "Besides... if we get bored during that I'm sure we can do something."

That made Duo grin and he looked over at Matsuda. "Oh, there's plenty to do if we get bored," he said. Though, then again, what he was implying couldn't really happen for plenty of good reasons. So best just to change the subject. "Alrighty, so I'll let Envy know we're goin'," he said, "sometime before the wedding. Maybe tomorrow, if I get around to it. Let him stew about for a while."

"Sounds good to me. I'm sure he'll be annoyed with the fact that you’re not gonna tell him right away." Matsuda tossed Duo the pillow before getting up and walking towards his bedroom. He looked back at him with a smile. "Make yourself comfy I'll be back out.. just really uncomfortable in the work clothing now." He chuckled while walking into the bedroom and closing the door shut behind him.

Well, that was the point to making Envy wait, but Duo was sure that Matsuda had been able to figure that out himself. He caught the pillow easily and smiled back at the man as went to get changed, apparently disproving his theory that Matsuda didn't own any casual clothes. That was good, because no matter how good he looked in those suits of his, there was something wrong with a man that only owned suits to wear. Duo was curious to see what he thought of as comfortable, though, so he relaxed back onto the couch, stuffing the pillow behind his head and watching the bedroom door until he saw it start to open. Then he sent the pillow flying at Matsuda.

Matsuda gasped slightly as the pillow came towards him. As he tried to dodge the incoming fluff he smacked into the door frame a little bit to make him fall flat onto his back with a soft thud. The clothing that the older man had chosen was a pair of soft black pants that clung around his hips with a size too big light blue sweater. The man chuckled a bit as he stayed on the floor the sweater had rode up his stomach a bit from the sudden fall. "Great.... I should have expected that from you.."

Duo chuckled to himself as Matsuda fell from the force of a pillow, though he was a little worried about him; the fact that he was laughing, though, was a good sign anyway. The pilot heaved himself up off of the couch and went over to help Matsuda up, tossing the pillow back over to the couch before holding out his hand to the man. "Sorry, man, couldn't help it," he said, smiling down at him. "You okay?"

Matsuda grabbed Duo's hand with a smile. "Of course I'm okay." He sat up a bit while yanking on Duo's arm pulling the other down or at least going to attempt to. Why should he be the only one on the floor? That wasn't fun at all. He chuckled a bit to himself as he watched the other.

Duo had been prepared to help pull Matsuda up, but he hadn't been prepared to have Matsuda trying to pull him down at the same time. He was a Gundam pilot, so he should be prepared for everything, but he wasn't in a wartorn galaxy in 195 AC, and he wasn't with someone that had the potential of capturing him or killing him, so sue him if he'd let his guard down a little bit. So, the boy went tumbling a little, ending up splayed across Matsuda's stomach. He blinked in surprise for a few moments, and then grinned mischievously up at the man. "You shouldn'ta done that," he said, and then attacked Matsuda's sides with his fingers. Of course he was screwed if the man wasn't ticklish.

Matsuda gasped a bit while flinching slightly at the sudden attack. He felt himself shiver before chuckling uncontrollably. He moved his hands towards Duo's trying to pull them away. He stopped chuckling just so he could try to take a breath. "Ack! Duo!! S-stop!!"

The boy straightened out a little so that he was straddling Matsuda as he tickled him and he didn't let anything deter him for a good few minutes, just enjoying torturing Matsuda. Finally he relinquished and leaned over the man, hands on either side of his head and grinning down at him. "Had enough?"

Matsuda panted slightly as he took a couple of breaths as he smiled up at him. He nodded as he took a deep breath before letting it out. "Yes.. I've had enough." He reached up and grabbed hold of the end of Duo's braid.

It wasn't hard to see the movement and Duo looked back to see what Matsuda was up to when he saw that hand on his braid. "Now, Matsu," he purred, not moving from his spot still straddling the man, "what exactly do you plan on doing with that?"

"Nothing." Matsuda chuckled as he let it go gently. He smiled up at Duo as he slowly lifted his up his upper half so that his face was inches from the other’s. "Are you having fun sitting there?"

If Duo didn't know any better, he might have thought that Matsuda had been lying this whole time about having confidence issues when it came to flirting. But, then again, this was Matsuda, who had told the pilot, himself, that he didn't have much confidence and Duo really had absolutely no reason to not trust what he told him. "As a mattera fact, I am," he said. "Why, you're not?"

Matsuda chuckled as he looked at Duo. He smiled as he shifted a bit. He slowly put a hand on the other's shoulder as he tilted his head to the side. "Well.. it's not too uncomfortable. I just think you're having too much fun with this."

Or maybe there was something going on. Damn. And here Duo'd thought there would be nothing to worry about. Matsuda was a twenty-seven year old cop and Duo was a fifteen yeard old streetrat-turned-terrorist, how could there possibly be an attraction? Of course there was the fact that, as far as he knew, Matsuda didn't know anything about what Duo did back in his own world. Dammit all. Duo leaned back so that he was just sitting up, trying to discreetly shift the situation off into another direction. He didn't let his grin even falter as he retorted, "There's no such thing as havin' too much fun when there's nothin' more important t'do."

"More important things to do... right." Matsuda sat up the rest of the way as he stared at the teen. He flushed a little bit before grabbing hold of Duo's collar a bit pulling it forward so their noses were touching slightly. "You know.. when you have the opportunity to kiss someone.. you should.." The man leaned in a bit more making the lips only inches away.

Damn. Damn it all to fucking hell. He shouldn't have tickled him. He should have just gotten back up and helped Matsuda up and then they could have just continued talking about what they were going to do if they got bored (or threatened or whatever) at Envy's wedding. That would have been safe and Duo should have known better. He'd gotten himself into this mess and . . . just damn. "Matsuda," he said quietly, both the joker and Shinigami gone for a rare moment, "it's not that I don't want to. I don't wanna lead you on -- you know there's someone else and it sucks but that's just the way it is."

"Well.. then I guess making out won't be an option then." Matsuda grinned while pushing Duo gently off of him as he slowly got up off the floor and brushed his pants off from the dust. He knew that there was someone else for Duo it was quite obvious. The man stretched slightly as he waited for the other to get up.

Duo crawled back a little to Matsuda up off of the floor and took a deep breath himself before plastering a small smirk on his face and getting to his feet. "Guess that's my cue t'leave," he said with a sigh, turning back to the man. "Thanks for dinner, I'll pay you back for it and don't bother tellin' me not to bother 'cause I wanna and you're not gonna stop me." He was a half-decent cook when he tried and it wasn't that hard to follow a recipe. After a moment of thought, Duo walked right up to Matsuda and reached up, cupping his cheek with his hand and kissing the other. "I'll find someone for ya, don't worry," he whispered. "Someone who actually deserves ya."

Matsuda blushed as he looked at Duo. He bit his lip slightly as he shifted his weight nervously. "Thanks... I will have to pay you back for that somehow as well.." He replied softly as he pulled away from the other. "But you should go before it gets too late."

Duo nodded and gave Matsuda another smile before turning towards the door. He felt terrible, but there was nothing he could do about it -- it wasn’t that he didn’t care about Matsuda, it was just that his heart had already decided who it wanted to obsess over and there was nothing Duo could do about it. There was no point in starting anything with Matsuda since he deserved something that would actually lead to something more and Duo just couldn’t offer that since he'd already gone and fallen for a sociopath. Duo sighed as he closed the apartment door and headed back to Deathscythe.
