EPIC EVITA/JULIA SPAM POST: "high flying, adored"

Aug 14, 2008 22:33

HAI. SO GUESS WHO'S AWESOME, OTHER THAN JULIA.

weazel_luv drove to Sacramento and back on 13 Aug 08 to catch Julia in EVITA - and being the massive fandorks that we are, we worked out our time differences and cleared our schedules (no lying, I actually did do this) so that she could upload her audio and I could track it and distribute it to the WORLD in the shortest time possible. XD

So consider this the hugest Evita spam post EVER. The audio is free for everyone to download; pimp the links far and wide! Our only condition? NO HOARDING. Because hoarding sucks and spreading the Julia love is what we're all about, anyway. Oh, and comments would be awesome, please - if you're downloading, surely you can spare the time to leave a word of thanks, especially since weazel_luv is being ridiculously generous in not sitting on this and trading it out excruciatingly slowly like she very well could.

And since this is a spam post, FLAILAGE IS WELCOME. Did Julia's sob in Don't Cry For Me, Argentina break your heart? What about her insanely high high belt in A New Argentina? JUST WANT TO FLAIL IN GENERAL? DO IT.

- OMFGJM. SO SHE SINGS LIKE, PRACTICALLY EVERY SONG IN THIS SHOW. Seriously - the score is almost entirely sung through, and Julia can be heard on probably 80% of the songs, if not more. I'm still not a convert to Evita as a show; the music is a bit discordant for my liking, although the best tunes are simply EPIC (like High Flying, Adored, one of my favourites). But Julia makes the show beyond INCREDIBLE.

- I can honestly say that I have never heard Julia belt higher than she does in this show. I only wish I could see this live. Proof: listen to A New Argentina, starting from 2:45 and throughout the song after that. It's AH-MAZING.

- Her version of Don't Cry For Me, Argentina, predictably, is now my favourite version of this song EVER. It's a perfect encapsulation of why I love Julia - in about four minutes, she sings in her head voice, whips out her vibrato, belts, and ACTS. Her voice BREAKS. I FUCKING LOVE IT.

- Here are audio samples of three other songs, for you to listen to while you wait for the file to download:

Julia belting Buenos Aires = SEXY TIMES.

This is a fun duet - one I didn't remember from having seen the movie (honestly I don't remember the movie at ALL, Madonna left SUCH an impact, clearly...), but it's great.

Another duet, with Peron. I love this one - especially the way it echoes in reprise form later in the show.

oh look a good day, lj - weazel_luv, broadway, julia murney, capslock flail, tunespammage
