flailage: PD: Hi I'm [insert name here], and I so did not need a new obsession!

Yes yes, that's me, reporting another fledgling obsession.

Don't worry, House-lovers. At present, my love for House and Cuddy still burns bright and true, and will do so for the foreseeable future as long as Hugh Laurie and Lisa Edelstein continue to be as hot and snarky and bantery as they have always been on the show.

BUT. OMG. PUSHING. FRICKIN'. DAISIES. SO MUCH LOVE.

It's the one new show I picked off the fall schedule and decided to watch based on premise alone, and I've LOVED the first four episodes (which I dutifully watched every week as I downloaded them). But RL has been so CRAP lately that I only just managed to catch up on the last three episodes. And colour me dead, because I am done and I am hooked, this show is INCREDIBLE. It's funny, romantic, wacky, surreal, bizarre, occasionally creepy, and is insanely insanely gorgeous and happy-making. The concept is fab, the execution better (people breaking into song? a pair of sisters who synchronise-swim as mermaids? plastic-wrap kisses?!)... not to mention that it stars LEE PACE (who is ADORABLE, HI), Anna Friel (who really is SO CUTE as Chuck), Chi McBride (no longer cardboard-cutout-villain Vogler but the hilariously deadpan Emerson Cod, knitting fanatic!), Ellen Greene (oh man it's Audrey from Little Shop being all zany and cute and singing too!), Swoosie Kurtz (who KILLS me with the one-liners - re water: "Russian for vodka?") and KRISTIN CHENOWETH.

So, I'm gay for Lisa Edelstein, yes? Everybody knew this? No contest?
I suspect Kristin's going to be the next person trying to bludgeon what's left of my heterosexuality into oblivion. Because she is adorable, all 4'11" of her, and she SINGS (yes, SINGS) on the show, and is cute and blonde and fantastic as Olive Snook. I'm spamming the heck out of her performances on Youtube now, and OMG. Her voice? Her range? YOW. ZA. This REALLY makes me want to (a) buy all her albums (b) watch the last two seasons of the West Wing, which I've ALWAYS wanted to do but still haven't managed to find the time for. OMG. DIE. HMV visit tomorrow. For definite.
(I have to admit, back before I got hooked on Pushing Daisies, I kindofmaybe used to think her voice was a bit annoying, but clearly I have changed my mind. COMPLETELY. Past!me was a MASSIVE LOSER. OBVIOUSLY.)

Just watch these videos and tell me she isn't awesome!
- Kristin singing Girl In 14G (LIVE, GAH, the range the range) on the Rosie O'Donnell Show
- Kristin singing For Good (from Wicked, which I now MUST see in London later this year)
- Kristin singing Taylor the Latte Boy on Craig Ferguson, because, AIEEE, CUTE.

I am SUCH A SUCKER for a good Broadway singer. Helps if she's also cute, blonde and ditzy.

LOVE. Anyone else also hooked on PD...?
