Flail > work. Everytime. ANYTIME.

1. I am EPIC late for work - as in, I'm supposed to BE in the office by now - but since I spent a while lounging around in bed and am already late... whatever. ;) I fell dead asleep yesterday early this morning before posting... this, I realise, is the upshot of having a laptop which can be used in a semi-horizontal position, rather than my usual ( Read more... )

2. I like your handwriting! I approve of handwriting that doesn't look like a second-grader did it (i.e. mine). And I would have no idea what faily/nonfaily Chinese writing looked like - I'm just in awe of everyone who can put all the tiny lines in the right places. xD

4. THANK YOU for flailing about Losing My Mind! I thought I was the only person dying during those low notes. Mmph. Everyone else has been all about I Dreamed a Dream and Unusual Way - not that I don't see why. Has video emerged yet? Because her acting in I Dreamed a Dream and Losing My Mind was INSANE (-ly good, that is) and you need to see it. I know someone was videoing some songs (very obviously), but I don't think it was a Julia fan. Nevertheless, perhaps Youtube. Also the usual culprits were in attendance, so.

2. Awww thank you! At least you guys seem able to read it, which is nice. It used to be a lot worse in college and I was worried I'd have to pay to have it deciphered and typed up come exam-time. *weeps* Do the meme! I was serious about tagging everybody, and it'll be fun. :D ( ... )

2. I want to do the meme! Except I am still behind on that photo meme from ages ago, so I need to finish that first. Orrrr I will be irresponsible and do this one first because it's easier. xD Then everyone can join my mother in endlessly making fun of my handwriting!

Man, that sounds so complicated. I had enough trouble with Arabic and that's just like backwards cursive - none of these tiny lines in a certain order and whatever craziness! Am impressed.

4. I'm just...tired of everything from Les Miz. The bridge of I Dreamed a Dream is PERFECT for Julia's voice, that's for sure! I'm definitely in agreement with Losing My Mind being the best vocal performance of the night. And her acting was beautiful, which wasn't helpful to my attempts to, you know, stay upright. xD I do hope the video emerges soon. She cried in Losing My Mind as well as in I Dreamed a Dream. SO amazing.

Also, I will try to go to Wonderettes ASAP to try for more information so you can plan your trip - hopefully I'll get there next week?

2. The handwriting meme is WAY easier than the photo meme, so I totes vote that you do it first. Go on! XD

I'm impressed you learned Arabic, geez that stuff looks completely incomprehensible to me. Whereas Chinese, you know, I've grown up with it - so while it's hard to remember where stuff goes, it doesn't feel completely alien to me, you know?

4. Awww. I'll always always have a soft spot for Les Miz because it was the first show I remember LOVING, and that my mom brought me to over and over again. Julia would make an epic amazing Fantine. I can't can't CAN'T wait to see video if this exists because asdkhasdhasldas I want to see the crying!

You are SO SWEET. Help with the Wonderettes would be amazing because I DO want to lock down dates if at all possible, and start planning. Because otherwise it will NOT happen.

How is it that I left this post unlocked, LOL? I have a boot here and everything. Augh. ;)

2. I am failing so hard at the photo meme - it requires going places, and remembering my camera! But I am determined to conquer it.

Yeah, of course Chinese is more familiar to you. Both it and Arabic would look equally like gibberish to me if I hadn't studied one of them. ;-)

4. Fair enough! I nearly fell off my seat when Kerry O'Malley sang Hold On (partly because I apparently arrived too late for the ballots and thus never saw the song list, even though I was 20 minutes early and Crazy Grey Gardens Lady arrived later and still got one, wtf), because Secret Garden is that show for me. If JULIA had sung Hold On, I would've pretty much been dead. (Take note, universe!)

Don't you always leave boot posts unlocked? At least I've learned to check before being all "I was sitting in this place and said this thing to this person blah blah blah." ;-)

OMG, the Julia. YES. I haven't heard Alice Ripley's version, but I can imagine she'd be very expressive. For a different take (and more in the Follies character), it's worth knowing Barbara Cook's soprano version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_G4JNMURj4

I don't know if you know Barbara? She's an old, old lady, but she's a freaking goddess -- the original Marian the Librarian in the Music Man, the original Cunegonde in Candide, the original Amalia in She Loves Me, to name a few. The woman's over 80 now, and you must watch her swing on Come Rain or Come Shine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8et9TjfSJjE.

End of that digression. Back to the Julia: I didn't love her Unusual Way -- it seems to sit sort of funny for her -- but I Dreamed A Dream lived up to my every expectation. Between that and Stars And The Moon, I can bask in awesome for quite a while.

Alice's version is kind of insane with its amazing, but AUGH. That Barbara Cook rendition is OUT OF THIS WORLD. Honestly - her last held note gave me a minor heart attack, I swear it.

I know Barbara, of course - but mostly by reputation, just because she's SO revered in the theatre fandom. Clearly I need to go and find out more, her voice is AMAZING. Thanks so much for the links!

I Dreamed A Dream is out of this WORLD. Stars and the Moon as well. Oh Julia, get a regular Broadway job so you can win a Tony. You deserve it SO much.
