KITTY POLLS: They-Who-Cannot-Be-Named

Jul 16, 2017 13:27

Still working on stupid names (I know, I know)...maybe you can help us. It's not that we can't come up with names, it's that none of us can agree. I try a new one out every day or so.

So here’s a few pictures, a little bit about them, and a poll for each - I've listed some of the different names we've tried out and have a part where you can add suggestions. I'm generally not a huge fan of "duo" names (like Bert and Ernie) because it feels too precious, nor descriptive names like "Smokey" or "Fluffy" because they don't seem personal enough, but at this point I'm open to anything.

He-Whom-We-Currently-Call-Kitty:

Age: 3
Hogwarts house: Ravenclaw
Astrological sign: Virgo
MBTI: INTJ
Political affiliation:  Unsure which country he's living in
Relationship status: It's Complicated

Kitty has very looong legs, a long neck, and is almost as tall as Zoe when he leaps vertically after a toy.  Probably about 20 pounds because he's so tall. He's a lynx-point Siamese, silver and grey with pale blue eyes, pretty aloof and always looks like a space cadet. He's super skittish, always looking over his shoulder. The very tip of his very long tail is always moving back and forth. Rarely speaks, but does chirp. Enjoys playing with new kitty, even though his personality/appearance seems like he wouldn't want to. Tries to force himself on you when you're on the couch, and wants to stand up straight on you until you force him to lie down. Sometimes humps a blanket. Farts.

Poll CAT NUMBER 1

He-Who-Is-New:

Age: 1
Hogwarts house:  Gryffinpuff
Astrological sign:  Sagittarius
MBTI: ENFP
Political affiliation: Liberal
Relationship status: Single and ready to mingle

Only a year old (even though he looks older) and very playful; definitely still a kid. A beautiful blue-grey with electric yellow eyes. Don't let the lazy, come-hither 'How YOU doin'?" appearance fool you - he's clumsy, bumbling, endearing. Talks - a LOT. Kind of roly-poly in shape; probably about 14 pounds. Not as big as Kitty but will be a big cat. Announces himself when he comes in, when he leaves, when he moves; will have a back-and-forth conversation with you, walks through the house talking, talks to the other cats, etc., etc., bugs the other cats, continues to bug Bodhi even though Bodhi hisses at him, plays with Kitty all day. Tears through the house like a race car. Very funny. We love him.

Poll CAT NUMBER 2

Just 'cause, here's Bodhi, our grumpy old man:

Age: 13
Hogwarts house: Slytherin
Astrological sign: Taurus
MBTI: INFJ
Political affliation: Get off my lawn
Relationship Status: Domestic Partnership with food bowl

(Please ignore the crumbs under the table.) Bodhi used to be a very big cat - about 17-18 pounds at his biggest. Now he's probably only 10-11 pounds max, has arthritis and moves very slowly. Brown tabby, pretty green eyes. He's very bony, even though we have tried hard to fatten him up.  He now hangs out in the kitchen a large part of the day and jumps up on the counter to eat anything that's left out - something he has NEVER done until we started feeding him canned food. We created a monster, but it was the only way we could get him to start eating again. He never really got over Bryce passing away. He has been a perfect cat - agreeable, chill, no bad habits (until now, but whatever). He was my first pet I got on my own, and I can't imagine a world without him.

By the way, I learned through the Humane Society’s webpage that little Minnie (the tiny kitten I loved at the shelter) was adopted. I thought that would make me sad, but instead I am relieved. Hope no one steps on her.

We did decide that after Bodhi passes, we’ll get two kittens. (And then this process will begin all over again…hopefully Bodhi will still be with us at least a few more years, so if I start now I might have potential names picked out by then.)
