Thanks for all the sympathy and well-wishes on the last post. ♥ Am much less emo now.

In lieu of actual content-yet again-a meme about WIPs! I love memes like that, they're so much easier than, y'know, actually finishing anything. Ganked from dacian_goddess

When you see this, post an excerpt from as many random works-in-progress as you can find lying ( Read more... )

Actual real money? I don't know what I'd do with that. I think grad students get fictional fantasy Monopoly money.

Really, it's like any other fandom; there's good fic, there's bad fic, and there's really, really awful fic. There's even little bits of great fic here and there (keep meaning to collect those and make a directory over at tin_florilegium, but… well, that's gone like most of my projects). It's not nearly as old or as large as DW fandom, though, so the good fic is harder to find. Well, also, the source material is… flatter. Don't get me wrong, I love the shit out of it, but it's something that requires a lot of oomph put into it to make effective. (I think there is lots of Morgan/Garcia, though? There's a comm for it. Whether it's good, IDK; Morgan/Reid/Garcia is the only thing I halfway ship, really.)

That said, the fandom fixation on Reid is something special. Not unique; there's some interesting parallels between Reid!fandom and Ianto!fandom, actually, when it comes to the whumpage. But it's just so distilled, and because part of me shares in that impulse to torture the crap out of him because he just suffers so prettily, it turns into something fascinating like a trainwreck for me.

ANYWAY. That comment turned into a long and winding road to nowhere somehow. :P TL;DR, CM fandom's nothing terrible. Yet it doesn't have quite the spirit of some other fandoms I've been in; I don't know if I'm not looking in the right places or if that's a result of it being a procedural or what.
