• Lots of new friends (hi!), and I should do a proper "how d'you do" sort of post. And I will. This weekend, yes. Because I am organized like that. Yes;
• Speaking of, the Criminal Minds friending meme seems to have gone well; lots of people finding like-minded fen and fun conversations and things like that! I still haven't finished combing through all the responses, myself (yowza, nearly four hundred comments), but I look forward to getting to know everybody better!;
• Holy fucking shit. (Blood-pressure warning) I have my own issues with the "citizen journalism project"-we already have one of those; it's called the blogosphere-as a replacement for, you know, journalism. Unfortunately, I also know from even my limited experience that numbers are going to be hard to get and crystalize. It's the nature of the industry. But I'll spare you my rant on the insurance industry… for now;
• Here, have a link that's less utterly enraging: rounds_of_kink is having a Halloween Mini-Round, and posting starts tomorrow. Go, frolic! Especially if you're a DW or CM type!;
• Working on (read: despairing over) writing sample. I'd read the book before, back in undergrad, but my God, I had forgotten just how much FUN Pale Fire is. Unfortunately, "I have no idea what it really going on in this book, but I had a very good time not knowing" is probably not a workable thesis in itself if I actually wish to be admitted to grad school anywhere;
• Not that I'm 100% positive that I do. But that is angst for another day;
• Cannot stop reading random books on unrelated subjects even though I don't really have time to be dicking around with them omg halp;
• Item number one was really the main reason for this post. How 'bout that weekend, LJ?
