Sorry about including Kate in your fantasy birthday plans. Now that she is gone, you have room in your car for Ben. I can see what you like him. He is one of the only characters who remains true to himself.

Kate was talking about Aaron? That didn't even cross my mind. Parents don't usually say they are in love with their kids and I was unclear on the Jack/Kate timeline in terms of their relationship.

Was Kate wearing pink? I'm sorry. I must have still be blinded by Sayid's t-shirt to notice!

I've never thought any Kate did was logical, but her behavior really pushed the limits of belieavability this season. And I actually liked her descent in the fantasy mother life because I thought the cracks would eventually show and she would regret the choices she made as an O6. No cracks, only pink, and then she said bye, bye baby.

But yeah for the Spanish! I actually didn't mind Sayid's subplot. He has always had a kink for atonement. I did think the t-shirt was over the top. What he couldn't find a hair shirt?

I like and agree with your summary about Locke. This was the first episode in eons that I actually felt something other than anger and annoyance toward him. By the time the end (the hotel?) came, I too thought he was just defeated, and not trying to fulfill the obligations of the island.

Apparently everyone still harbours a lot of anger over John’s past behaviour, and probably rightly so, but none of the O6, particularly Jack, Kate and Sayid have a right to be uppity about their own moral high ground.
I totally agree! I have had an issue with this, more Kate than anyone, but the scene with Sayid was a little ridiculous. I love him to death, but that was just silly.

Speaking of Helen, does anyone think she is not really dead and that Widmore had that tombstone planted so as not to give John any reason to stay?
Hmmm, I never even thought of this! If that's the case, John is just too easily manipulated.

The scene with Walt was great. Part of me wishes he was brought back into the fold because he is such an interesting character. He is ( ... )

I felt the episode was lacking too. There were no real surprises in the Bentham story since we knew Locke visited everyone and was rejected by them. And I can't really wrap my head about the second plane crash, the resurrection, and potential multiple timelines. And the Ben and Widmore feud is so confusing. Still, I did like the return of the old more likeable Locke. That was the best part of the episode for me.

oh, I love your observations about Locke. I pretty much agree with everything you say, and such an humble Locke was refreshing. How gullible he was, ONCE again, was not though. he never, ever learns.

*zips on the O6*

I don't see the point of the two new characters either. and as you say, we don't need distractions at this point! I really hope there is something interesting coming.

I am not sure there are any good guys either. sheesh.

I guess I buy Locke's guillability with Ben at the end only because he truly was at the brink. I hate Ben for taking his trust and ripping it to shreds.

Wanted - Good guys. Someone to root for and care about. Anyone named Ben Linus, need not apply.

I guess Jin and Hurley are doing a pretty good job in that category. And then there is Mr. Ford who shines pretty well as a hero.

I was glad Locke kept his promise to Jin, too. Although, I was a little sad he didn't tell Walt his father died. Maybe he doesn't know Michael died, since Jin did survive.

I thought Sun might be with Frank, but since the 06 vanished, it seems she wouldn't be with him. If not, I have no idea who the woman is.

I think maybe Ceasar and Illana work for Widmore. Especially since Illana was with Sayid on the plane.

I totally agree that Ben will probably try to convince Locke he had to kill him. I think it might be possible that it had to happen that way, but if it did, why didn't Ben just explain it to him? Locke already knew he had to die. But I'm more inclined to be no. OMG! I just figured it out! Ben is a Borderline! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderline_personality_disorder

I guess Locke doesn't know about Michael, though he seemed reluctant to confirm he was alive.

If Illana worked for Widmore either she is lying to Locke or is clearly not in the loop about island miracles. And I am just sick of all the lies.

Good call about Ben, though I think most of the characters could be borderline personalities.

Locke did seem reluctant. Now that I think about it, Abaddon asked why Locke didn't tell Walt about his father.

I hadn't thought about Illana not knowing about the miracles. But if she does work for Widdy, I wouldn't expect her to be truthful. He and Ben and their minions are all trying to manipulate things.

All the manipulation makes me head hurt. I don't think there is one character who truly knows what is going on.

I can pretty much agree on everything you said about Locke. Because seriously? THIS was refreshing. Someway. Well, I haven't stopped having issues and I'm still having them but it was good to see him humble instead of the Island's Fidel Castro who likes grenades. Good point about the blind faith turning off him, even if at this point it'd be more for the blind faith in Ben than the island (and it takes me a lot to say that ;) ) because seriously, he already tried to kill him once. I mean. Ah well.

Here he actually tried to talk to people rather than talk at them. Although he considered his rejections a failure, I think Locke’s behaviour off island was his best attempt at leadership since his first days on the island

Yes, yes and yes. *sigh* I also loved the Walt scene, even if it could have been longer.

I believe that was not an attempt to fulfil Richard’s prophecy but the first time he had truly given up. Being in an environment that no longer made him feel special, was a reminder to how far he had come, but more importantly how ( ... )

Hee! Locke as Fidel! That's awesome. Hmmmm, who is Che then?

Like you I hate how fickle the island is between who it blesses with life and who it couldn't care less about. Why is Locke so special? Why is Christian? Are they part of the Asshole Club of the Month? I guess it makes "sense", well Lost sense anyway, that corpses turn to life on the island, especially since the reverse seems true too, with all the living eventually becoming dead. Or does Jacob pick one person from every disaster to bless with immortality? I started this season thinking I was getting closer to the truth, now I am even more confused and impatient.

But just using someone who is clearly at the bottom so bluntly and then killing him that was was too much.

I know. That was awful. I am really sick of Ben's head games so much that like you I am finding Widmore's evilness more tolerable.
