Wow! That's so atmospheric. I can see Sayid studying these photographs as intently as the world would have done before, but of course they mean so much more to him. This is so strongly evocative, taking me to the places they inhabited. Excellent work! And, of course, I love that Sawyer shows up at the end, like he'd been waiting for Sayid. Wonderful last line! ;-)
Thank you so much. I wanted to create images that would be meaningful to us and Sayid. I'm glad you found them intriguing. Thanks for the great comment!
Since I know what happens in the end, I never know how affecting a story will read. Sorry to make you think I killed them all again. You're the queen of apocalypses, not me!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one! Thanks so much for the descriptive comment and sharing your squeal of joy at Sawyer's appearance!
Oh wow. This is fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat reading it, hardly able to keep from jumping ahead to the end. It's a great premise, wonderfully executed - thank you so much!
In particular I liked Sayid's reason for staying behind. Oh, the angst of O6 Sayid! He would so totally deny himself peace because he didn't feel he deserved it. I also loved the descriptions of the photographs, and especially that you saved Vincent. :) And the ending. I love the ending very much - thank you for that.
If anything, I will always save Vincent. I would like to always save Sayid too because I know he is deserving, even if he doesn't. I'm so happy you found this fic interesting. Thanks for reading.♥
Damn you. If it wasn't for your fics I might be able to quit Lost altogether. You always draw me back in.
I could see every one of those photos you described. I love the descriptions of the footprints, the tents, Charlie's carving on the tree (perfect lyric sampling there!). Your descriptive detail is exquisite.
I loved Sayid's reasons for not going back; the feeling that he didn't deserve any special redemption or relief. It's harsh, but I really like that Sayid takes responsibility for his own downfall and doesn't look to the island/destiny to make sense of his sins for him.
I don't want to be responsible for keeping you tied to Lost! Most likely you were smart to get into a lifeboat early! Meanwhile I'm like the last person on the Titanic who thinks everything will be okay.
I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this. I never feel confident about writing Sayid, and I was worried that this could come off as anyone. I’m glad you found his reasoning to stay behind logical. Personally I think anyone is stupid to look to the island to save them. It's a piece of land and a damn mean one. Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry I have not been able to keep my promise to read your BSG fic. This has nothing to do with your writing. I'm just having a hard time trying to keep up with Lost fandom right now and it is only going to get worse come September. I'm sure they're great and I hope that you've found an audience of devoted BSG fans.
P.S. Are you still interested in being interviewed in September for the Quill?

Can we say Michael? He could be the poster boy of 'Going back to the island won't help you one bit'. Sayid's descision is very wise and mature.
I'm sorry I have not been able to keep my promise to read your BSG fic.
That's okay, I know you're a casual BSG fan. I've got a nice little readership so far. It's cool to be playing with new characters and chatting to different fans. I'm falling behind with Lost fic reading too. But I don't think I could resist any Sayid, Desmond, Charlie or Hurley fics from you.
P.S. Are you still interested in being interviewed in September for the Quill?
Yes, I'd love to! It's a good time for me because I'm making a transition into a new fandom, so it'd be good to get some closure on my Lost ficcing days.
Maybe the island is leaving a trail of bread crumbs for everyone to come back so it can finish them all off. Has it ever done anything nice to anyone besides healing Rose and Locke?
Great! I'll e-mail you the questions later in the month. I think it would be interesting to hear from a writer who has tried so very hard to leave the fandom!
This just strikes me as so sad, the fact our Losties lived and died on this island, and that it's been discovered and pillaged(?) for lack of a better word. How would the island have been discovered, one wonders? Your descriptions of the pictures and of Sayid's thoughts as he looks back are wonderful. Just so many little details of the time they spent there. Also, I like the you addressing the fact that at first, the media kind of blindly took the story of how they got back, but had to realize the implausibility of it all once they had more pieces of the puzzle. And then Sawyer at the end...awww...(he was there, I know he was)
I left the fates of everyone ambiguous but I don't think they are all dead. If so, where are the bodies? Maybe they were all shuttled to another time on the island when the outsiders arrived. Maybe they came back home. I do agree Sawyer is there in person.
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts.
Once I re-read my comment, I think I forgot to acknowledge the part that I interpreted that everyone didn't die on the island, just some did. That's what I get for trying to comment while I'm at work!
