There was an audible gasp from me when Alex was shot. I was so convinced that it was going to be a ruse, and then when it wasn't, I just freaked the heck out.

And oh God, Ben's reveal that he's going after Penny made me want to stab things. YOU CAN'T BRING HARM TO THE ONE CHARACTER I EXPECTED TO BE IMMUNE TO THESE THINGS. Except... Apparently, she's becoming integral to the plot now so clearly she isn't immune... And God, I hope they don't kill her just so Desmond can be Ben's pawn in killing Widmore, since he clearly can't do it for some weird reason.

Why are female characters so disposable on this show? It riles me to no ends that their deaths (Shannon, Libby, Alex) are used to generate the male character’s angst.

Amen. :-/ Although I didn't hate this ep, that aspect of the show really, really pisses me off. *sigh* Especially since Shannon and Alex were such great characters with so much potential. :-( Wow, I really didn't expect Alex to go. That was indeed shocking.

I didn't hate the episode either but it is getting harder and harder to forgive the misogny and still enjoy all the other factors. Sayid's lost three girlfriends to this pattern. That's insane. I'm still in shock that Alex is gone and how she went.

Jesus. Okay so I thought the redshirt bloodbath was gonna be horrible, I knew Danielle and Karls deaths were being confirmed, I knew about Nadia, etc...I didn't know about Alex. Well, I knew from the trailer she was being threatened, but...I'm shocked. Not in a good way. Okay, Danielle/Alex fans, I admit it; you're more screwed over than I am. Much more. My condolenses.

OMG!! So Ben is the good guy because these other people are worse?! Oh, I totally forgive him and sympathise with him now. Wait, no, I don't. I hope Penny kicks his ass. Oh wait, what am I saying? Penny is a strong female character. She's toast.

At least now I get why the universe was trying to kill Charlie. It would have saved a lot of lives if he just hadn't gone on the Looking Glass mission that brought the Freighties. I guess if he had survived he have been shot for incompetance by now.

Really? I was still holding out some hope that Danielle was alive and would come to kick Ben and Widmore's asses. Why to go show, kill the two uncompromised female characters on the island, threaten the coolest one off the island, and then kill the other Penelope-photo junkie for safe measure. Meanwhile Kate has been reduced to waving her shoulder to Jack. No wonder he looked so sick.

Ben is totally culpable for Alex's death. Even if he has some sort of future flashes too and was sure Alex survived until Widmore changed the "rules", well we all know how unpredictable flashes are, he should never have taken that risk. And he better not touch a hair on Penny's head.

The Sayid scenes were lovely but oh so sad. I would say, just find some photos. You will so not like this episode.

Danielle/Alex was one of those relationships that the fans really cared about, but after a limp reunion they got no mother/daughter bonding time before they were both blown away. They established their story in S1 and after all these years THAT is how they chose to resolve it?! Whatever. I'm pissed about Nadia also. You may have guessed now that was the spoiler that inspired 'Beyond the Horizon'. Nadia death is foreshadowing Sayids death for me.

Meanwhile Kate has been reduced to waving her shoulder to Jack. No wonder he looked so sick. LOL!! Okay, if I wasn't put off but Alex's execution that would have kept me away. I don't think I'll like this ep either (though the FF looks interesting). I did watch the trailer for the next one and I had to giggle over the "Jack on his deathbed!!" hype. Err, ABC we totally know Jack is alive in the future. Even if I didn't know that, they've just shot a traumatised teenager in the head, so I can't muster much concern for Jack's tummy upset

Word. I think this is all a set-up to have Jack leave the island when he normally wouldn't be the first to leave.

It's good that the finale spoilers sound positive to you. They need to do a lot to make up for the killing.

I'm thankful I was spoiled for both Nadia and Alex. If I wasn't, I'd be completely out of my mind right now.

It was interesting to see more of how Sayid was driven to work with Ben. From Ben’s little smile, it appears he made Sayid want to help him so who’s to believe anything he said about Nadia’s death. I wouldn't put it passed him to be behind it. Maybe you should be my spoiler filter and warn me of certain things in advance because Alex's death was so brutal!

Sawyer's heroism and WTF attitude, Hurley's peacemaking, and Bernard's takedown was all I had to cheer for here. The Ben stuff was really interesting but I'm still reeling about Alex, his threat to kill Penny and his obvious manipulation of Sayid, to process anything else.

I can totally be the spoiler filter ;) though at least from what I know there isn't anything so brutal in the next episodes. But whenever you need a warning for that kind of stuff just ask, I've given up on the unspoiled policy a long time ago. I won't read detailed summaries for the finale/the episodes, but for the rest I'm spoiled to death.

I cheered for exactly the same thing and Ben is interesting, sure, but I'm reeling exactly on what you are and I really can't like even the character. I realize that he's a good character but he just won't ever be on the same page as me.
