Elliot's Directorial Debut

Dec 08, 2009 16:00

I'm terribly late in posting this. But at least it's still before the fact! Elliot will be making his directorial debut in an Off-West End production of David Mamet's Edmond. Seats are priced at £10 each and are limited to 52 for each performance.

Play synopsis:Played out in 23 quick fire scenes, Mamet's Edmond charts the rapid fall of a New York businessman who leaves his wife and job after a meeting with a fortune-teller. Freed from the responsibilities of his former life, Edmond plunges into a sordid world of pimps, peepshows and prostitutes where he is mugged and robbed and embarks on a career of violence. It is only when he has lost everything that Edmond crawls out of the moral abyss and finds hope of redemption.

More info from WOS:Fresh from his stint in A Streetcar Named Desire at the Donmar, actor Elliot Cowan makes his directorial debut this December with David Mamet’s Edmond at Wilton’s Music Hall (14-16 December). Investigating what makes a man a man, this new production of Mamet’s urban min-epic will feature Tobias Menzies (Rome) in the lead role of American Everyman, alongside a top-rate cast including Kate Sissons and Colm Gormley. Local bluesgrass trio, The Bonfire Band, provides the music.
