Here's an email I got from my MIL. She's staying at the hospital she works at in Mississippi about 45 minutes outside of New Orleans:

Going on midnight and all is quiet. Trying to get most people down to rest while we can. We have about 250 people here in the building to keep safe.

Latest projections tell us to expect winds of 60 mph by 4 am, over 100 mph by 8 am. Winds of that speed may last 8 or 10 hours. With lots of rain as well. We're still hoping for that hook to the east but the longer it waits the less helpful it will be. We've prepared the best we know how so now we deal with whatever comes along.

I'll keep sending updates as long as I'm able.
