This is just too funny and sick at the same time. I can see this happening because of where we live. I say this because it's happened to us on may occasions. Some examples would be when Josh replaced 3 of the 4 toilets in this house, the old toilets were taken by someone when the toilets were left on the curb. The same thing happened when he changed out a sink in the half bath, someone came a took that as well. Actually someone saw the sink and cabinet and put it under the bush by the driveway and road. I asked Dad and Josh if they put it there and they said no. Josh put them back by the curb and a little while later they were gone. I guess they hid them until they could find a truck to load these items. When Mom and Dad replaced the shag carpeting with wood, the carpet wasn't even on the curb 5 minutes when someone came buy and took that home, etc.
So here's the story I find hilarious and sick.
http://2theadvocate.com/stories/052605/smi_smiley001.shtml I have to confess I thought this was one of those "urban legends," like the dead cat in a shopping bag stolen from someone's car.
But "Rocky's Mom" provides enough details to convince me this is a true story.
She says when the family's "very large" German shepherd, Rocky, died suddenly one evening, she was faced with the problem of handling the remains.
"The next morning I called Animal Control and was informed that BFI (our garbage pick up) handled this sort of thing. BFI informed me they would pick up Rocky, but wouldn't come on private property."
So Rocky's Mom, still grieving, pulled the corpse to the side of the road, then called BFI to let them know Rocky was ready for them.
She was told they would be out -- within 24 hours.
When 3 p.m. rolled around the next day Rocky was still out by the road in the hot sun, becoming more of a problem by the hour.
When her husband got home from work, he took action:
"He loaded Rocky into a 50-gallon trash bag and loaded the bag into the box that our new lawnmower had come in. He closed the box, taped it neatly with duct tape and tied it with twine. When he was done the box was as neat as it was when we brought the mower home."
That night her visiting brother-in-law saw a man jump into a white Ford truck in front of their house and speed away. They soon discovered that the guy had stolen their boxed "lawnmower."
Says Rocky's Mom, "It was a week before we stopped worrying that he would bring it back."
