So on Saturday, after the M's game, Nick and I went to this dive-ish bar by Greenlake called Leny's. I think all drinks were around $3 and we were definitely the youngest people there. Our entertainment was provided by Bob's karaoke (or something like it) with the host dressed in a light blue sweater vest and tie and would solo or accompany anyone who desired a duet. The only people singing were the regulars that included people with names like Mindy and Destiny. Most of the people weren't bad, but our favorite performance of the night was provided by Mindy, a 30 something woman in a black dress, who decided to sing "Bring Me to Life" by Evanescence. Possibly the worst song to sing in the history of karaoke. Oh but she sang with heart and she sang every note (although off key).... even to the last "liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife!" We were cracking up so much and looking at each other to make sure she was really singing that song.
Near the end of the night, we were sitting there chatting, and this 30 something Navajo man (he told us this multiple times and enjoyed speaking to us in navajo) who was COMPLETELY hammered sat down next to me. Our conversation went something like this:
Guy: Are you Eskimo?
Me: Huh? Oh, no.
Guy: Oh, because your eyes are slanted but you're lighter skinned. I thought you might be.
Me: Nope. I'm actually half filipino half white.
Guy: Oh really?
Me: Yep.
Guy: So... are you Native American?
Me: Um, no.
Guy: Oh. Are you Mexican?
Me: Nope. I just told you I'm---
Guy: (Interrupting) Oh, well you're attractive. Don't worry I'm not trying to hit on you, b/c you're cute but not as attractive as my girlfriend. Or my sister. They're both way more attractive than you.
Me: Sweet.
I swear I have more fun in sketchy bars. I definitely come home with better stories. :-)
Side note: Oh if I weren't such a procrastinator! I'd be done by now... but I have one more paper to write (due tomorrow) and then my college career is officially over. YAY!
