This wasn't what she'd envisioned when she decided to join the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Tracking down murderers and terrorists with the knowledge gained in eight years of medical training and an intensive schooling at Quantico was a far cry from standing in this cemetery on a dark and stormy night. She hadn't known the FBI investigated things like this, employed men as mad north-by-northwest as Mulder seemed to be.

And yet.

There was something that sparked in his eyes as she challenged him, something that crackled like lightning through his features when he wasn't ignoring or deriding her. He seemed to enjoy pressing her buttons and seeing the reaction, watching her keep up with the furious speed of his brain.

She knew she'd never admit it, not even to herself, but she enjoyed it, as much as she enjoyed being outside autopsy bay and in this cold midnight deluge.
