it's cold.

okay, so I'm not really cold right now...I'm inside a cozy coffeeshop on Alberta. But I don't want to leave, because it's cold outside.

I was off work yesterday and went out for an adventure with Julie and Tate. It went pretty well for a downtown excursion with a two year-old, until the end - a crying breakdown send Julie and I scrambling to pack it up and get back on the train. It all started off well enough, getting coffee downtown. Then we went to Finnegan's and we had as much fun as he did playing with the toys there. By the time we left there we were approaching naptime and thus had to have some lunch before he fell asleep. But it was freezing cold and suddenly windy - two very bad things when combined with attempting to eat outside at a food cart (especially when trying to eat outside at a food cart with a small child). Once the wind blew his little tupperware dish of pears into the dirt, it was all downhill. he was okay for a few minutes then it was all too much and he started crying "mommyhomemommyhomemommyhome..." The ride home was okay because he fell asleep. Altogether, though, it was a pretty successful outing. This was my first time meeting Tate, and fortunately we got along quite well.

Since I apparently have nothing else to do on my days off than follow Julie around at work, I then went to Fuel to hang out while she was working. I also stopped at the new yarn shop on Alberta, Close Knit, and found some yarn that I just love. It's wool, and variegated in these really great colors - mostly blue-greens, purples, and golden browns. I'm making myself a hat out of it because I really need one, and this will be plenty warm. The yarn shop itself is pretty cool, much more reasonably priced than I expected, and with a nice selection of stuff. I usually don't splurge on fancy yarn, but this one was so nice and not really too expensive.

Anyways. Tonight I'm making butternut soup, for the first time in a while! We should be doing laundry tonight too, if I can get some quarters. We rented Angels in America and started watching it last night...I think it'll take a while to get through all of it. But its really interesting so far.

my time is just about up on the coffeeshop computer, so I guess that's it for now.
