today i'm gonna write about my new interest..yuru-chara..
thanks to fukui san in gomenne seishun that baito as a mashimaru-kun..=)
yuru chara is (in wikipedia) a Japanese term for a category of mascot characters; usually created to promote a place or region, event, organisation or business..
yuru-chara is from the words yurui mascot character..
yurui (緩い) generally means "loose", but in this application it has a number of connotations including "gentle" or "weak", "laid-back", light-hearted or "unimportant" (wiki)

yuru-chara grand prix is an annual ranking for people to choose their favourite yuru-chara..
it started in 2010..
the winner in order is as below:
2010: hikonyan~
hikonyan is from hikone, shiga prefecture..
created in 2007 to mark the 400th anniversary of the founding of Hikone Castle..
2011: kumamon~
kumamon is from kumamoto prefecture..
created in 2010 for a campaign called Kumamoto Surprise to draw tourists to the region after theKyushu Shinkansen line opened..
2012: barii-san~
barii-san is from imabari, ehime prefecture..
created in 2009 initially for local tourism association..
barii-san is a yakitori (grilled chicken) wearing a crown (which is actually a representative of kurushima kaikyou bridge) and a belly band which holds a ship (representative of ship building industry in japan)..
2013: sanomaru~
sanomaru is from sano, tochigi prefecture..
created in 2011 for sano brand PR..
sanomaru is a dog type with appearance of a samurai dressed in Sano specialty products, and live in Sano of castle town..
the hat is made of a bowl of ramen with patterned SANO and the bangs are made of curled noodles Sano ramen..
at the waist are sweet potato fries (sano specialty)..
2014: gunma-chan~
as his name, gunma chan is from gunma prefecture..
created in 2008, previously his name is yumachan..
gunma chan is a pony, is has a long history but to make it short he is actually a second generation of gunma-chan..
u might be wondering what place is mishimarukun..
huhu..apparently both mishimarukun and mishimarukochan is at ranking 156..=(
its ok..

here is when they set a record for the largest dancing mascot in 2013..
there are 134 mascots danced together in Huis Ten Bosch theme park..
and also a record for largest gathering of mascot in 2013..
376 mascots at the 4th annual Yuru-chara Summit in Hanyū..
i don't actually count but maybe they got them all..
here is a real experience of 2 travellers at the yuru-chara summit 2013..
it looks so great..i want to be there~~
i want to have all yuru-chara in vinyl..
and kept them as collection..=D
