Live Journal is devouring my life. I think I might just check it more than Facebook...GASP! Who woulda thunk it?
I'm officially addicted to songwriting, too. After posting my first completed song, I churned out three more. I'm still re-writing the one dedicated to my grandmother, but that one's going to take some time as it's pretty emotionally draining for me. It's got to be absolutely perfect. Speaking of my grandmother, I am walking the the annual Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk in her honor. Granny's story is on my webpage. Please donate!!! Even if it's five dollars, every little bit goes toward researching this disease! My goal this year is $1,000. If you'd like to donate (and I'd love you if you did), the link for online donations is:
http://memorywalk09.kintera.org/nwmetro/emclaug3 I have a couple of blurbs that I'm going to hash out sometime this week. My creative juices are kinda going "WooooOOOOOooo" right now from all this work. But I officially have four songs and I feel really good about all of them...like really, really good about them. I've got to do a "poorman's copyright" on them, but that means they won't get back to me until the middle of next week, and I surely don't want to deprive anyone of my fantastic lyrics! (Italics indicate sarcasm). Here's one that I finished yesterday...rather at 11:30 yesterday evening. Again, ***This is my original work. Please respect that I worked very hard on this and do not use this for your own.***
"Weary Heart"
7-3-09
These are my favorite nights,
When it's just you and me.
I love when you hold me tight.
I love when you try to say goodnight.
You never make it to the bed,
'Cos you're too busy listenin' to
What I said:
C: Honey, go and turn the lights down low.
Nothin's written says you've got to go.
Let's just lay here and take things slow.
Just listen to the music,
And rest your weary head on me.
What ya doin' up right now?
Somethin' 'bout this seems wrong, somehow.
It ain't even eight o'clock,
And you're shop don't open 'till nine.
So what ya need that hour for?
Never seen you do--
Nothin' like this before.
C:
Now I see what I was blind to.
I hope she really cares for you.
You never thought I'd notice time.
But I do when you waste a love like mine.
C:
If you need your things, it's alright.
I'll have 'em ready by the end of the night.
'Cos see, I don't want you comin' back.
Check the gate, go get your bags.
2x [Don't go turnin' those lights down low.
Lawyer says you just gotta go.
I'll just sit here and take things slow.
I'll listen to the music,
And put my weary heart to rest]
I'm kind of in love with these lyrics, if I do say so myself. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this.
OH! And, I gotta tell you. The transformation into impending country star (Ha! We'll see) begins on the 16th. My birthday present to myself is going to get my hair cut. I'll post a picture in my scrapbook once it's finished. :) I'm really excited!
