But how can you keep people guessing if there is a third series already announced? Besides, Sherlock came back alive in the book, too. So I think it was nice to see him watch John and have all these feelings. :D
Also, it would not have changed how I felt, I think. I was sad because of Martin Freeman's wonderful face, not because I thought that Sherlock actually died and now I can think about Sherlock feeling all guilty for not letting John in on the plan.
I also think that Mycroft was in the know, cause he is not that stupid and that the favour Sherlock asked of Molly had to do with the fake death.
I feel so sorry for John and think he needs all the hugs now.
Your logic is sound ;) But then at the time I didn't know that and I haven't read any of the books.
I read a fanfic about Mycroft being in on it: http://starjenni.livejournal.com/22842.html Very very good. And IK agree about Molly. Actually I'm sure that is what Sherlock asked of her. I also thin that somehow John has been drugged and that is why he didn't notice the person who fell wasn't Sherloc but Moriarty.
Well, if there hadn't been a third series, not showing him alive would have been a mean, ceause then he would have been dead for everyone who doesn't know the books. So I think it was the right decision to show him either way, cause you can't really keep fandom guessing with this one.
John didn't even get close enough to actually see the face and all, no? Also, I think Molly probably did a good job with the mask or whatever she made there for the body. And I think Sherlock actually jumped. No way they could have faked that with John on the phone and watching. But he landed in the dumpster or whatever that was and the body on the ground was already there before, which is why Sherlock wanted John to keep eye contact so he wouldn't notice someone laying there.
Yes.. that would have been nerve-wrecking and so so evil. It was the same with Adler for me though. They could not have shown she is alive. I think that would have been more interesting.
Landed in the dumpster? I think from that height the chance you'd hit the dumpster is slim... to survice it even slimmer. I'm not sure, but it seems rather impossible to me ;)
It wasn't that high (only three of those high window floors, which I guess would make it five or six regular floors?) which wouldn't even necessarily kill you if you landed on pavement (like if you only broke a few limps and could keep your skull from cracking) and I think he surely made some preparations first to make sure he'd survive. He's not stupid
( ... )
