He is sentenced to 100 years of teaching angels about the history of demons, a punishment no demon should be forced upon.
Ninety-seven years later, Donghae, an orphan human living in an orphanage, sprouts angel wings one night. The next day he is swept off to the most reknowned angel school in all the world, Mount Holyoke. Widely accepted by many people in the school, he feels he has finnally found his home. A/N: KangTeuk centric chapter
The problem with Eeteuk and his philosophy class is he could never pay attention to what the class was about. There was always something else taking his attention away from lectures on quiescence, skepticism, or angel nature. Namely one distraction: Professor Kangin. Eeteuk just sat there, his head leaning on his arm, with a glazed look on his face. His mouth hung there, not doing anything except perhaps collecting drool.
After all there were so many things about Kangin that could keep Eeteuk distracted for hours. From the way his lips formed the words of the lectures to the arms that reached up to erase the board. Eeteuk imagined those lips, unusually soft when they pressed against his lips or his neck. He pictured the arms holding him close to Kangin’s warm body. How safe he always felt in those strong arms, as if nothing in the world could hurt him when he was there.
He caught Kangin staring in his direction and let loose a small smile. A short smile, unnoticeable to all in the class except Eeteuk, was quickly flashed across Kangin’s face. Warmth from inside Eeteuk bubbled up and filled him. Ever since he first saw the professor, his smile always had the same effect on the young angel student.
Eeteuk was in his first philosophy class at his new angel school. Just the excitement at finally being at Mount Holyoke was enough to drive him over the edge. He hadn’t stopped smiling since he had gotten here.
He looked up at the front of the classroom. The professor was writing that day’s lecture notes on the board. Apparently class wouldn’t start until he had finished. When he did finish, he turned around. Eeteuk’s stomach dropped and his heart fluttered. The professor smiled at the class. “Welcome,” he said in a kind voice that washed over Eeteuk, “To World Philosophy. I’m Professor Kangin, and I will be teaching the class.”
If Eeteuk was asked what went on the class that day, he would not be able to tell. He spent the entirety of the class staring at the new professor. He could however, remember as clear as day the style of robes Professor Kangin was wearing, the style of his hair, or how there was a small golden glint in the professor’s eyes when the light caught them just right. His thoughts went back and forth, unsure of what he was feeling then knowing it and unsure of what to do.
He eventually came to a conclusion, “Since I would never act upon these feelings because I am too scared to,” he thought, “it’s okay if I think them. After all, it’s not the feelings that are forbidden between a teacher and a student, just the actions.” At peace with his new excuse, Eeteuk spent the rest of that class enjoying the occasional smiles that Professor showed.
The bell rang at the end of class causing Eeteuk to jump in his seat. He looked around to see his classmates packing their bags and leaving the classroom. Eeteuk frowned; he didn’t want the class to end. He had to talk to the professor, just once. There was no harm in asking a question.
He walked up to the front of the classroom, his heart thudding so loud he was sure the professor could hear it. Kangin looked at him as he approached. The professor smiled, causing Eeteuk’s stomach to drop once again.
“It’s Eeteuk right?”
Eeteuk nodded. “Oh my gosh,” thought Eeteuk, “He remembered my name, and he only went over attendance once!”
He just stood there for a few seconds; not realizing time was passing by as he took in the grandiose of Kangin’s presence.
Finally the professor cleared his throat and spoke up. “Did you have a question?” he asked, concerned that the student was just standing there.
“I-“ Eeteuk started, and then remembered he had forgotten to think up a question. Panicked, he said the first thing that came to his mind. “I, uh, I’ve never really been good at philosophy,” he started. He saw Kangin raise an eyebrow. “But,” he continued, “I want to improve and do well, but I already anticipate my epic fail coming.” He watched as Kangin tried to hold back a smile, but it was obvious he was amused by Eeteuk’s fluster.
Eeteuk was blushing now, “So I was wondering if there was maybe an older student who could tutor me?” A surprised expression came upon Kangin’s face, as if the last question was not something he was expecting.
“Well,” the professor said as Eeteuk looked up at him, “There aren’t any students that are available right now.” Eeteuk’s face dropped. He had thought maybe the tutoring sessions could take place in the professor’s office; he could just spend a little more time each day looking at the older angel.
“However,” Kangin continued, “I have some extra time on Tuesday afternoons. Are you free then to be tutored by me?”
“Hells yes!” Eeteuk thought. Out loud he said, “Yes sir.”
“Good I’ll see you tomorrow afternoon and we can talk about what you didn’t understand in today’s class.”
Eeteuk smiled and nodded. He couldn’t believe his good luck. He was almost too happy to stop from jumping as he left the room. He somehow managed to contain himself.
Then a thought occurred to him. Kangin was expecting to mention some of the points that he didn’t understand. But he didn’t understand any points because he didn’t even hear any. He was too busy looking at the professor to even copy down the notes. He had to find another student in his class to copy the notes before the next day’s tutoring session.
It was a few months later, and the tutoring sessions were the highlight of Eeteuk’s week. He had spent every class just copying down the notes, not even bothering to learn the material. The time used in class was time used to stare at his professor. After all, they went over it in great detail in his private tutoring sessions. If he used the class time to learn and the tutor sessions to space out and stare at the professor, then Kangin would surely notice.
Although he usually remembered to take down the notes to ask fake questions at the sessions, there was one day where Kangin was looking especially good. Taking notes was long forgotten and it showed when they met.
“So which topics did you have questions on this time?”
Eeteuk was trying not to panic. “The first and, um, third ones.”
Kangin looked at him confused, “The first and the third ones? Could you be a bit more specific?”
“Ah,” Eeteuk stumbled over his words. “They were so confusing that I forgot what they were called.”
“You forgot how to say ‘love’ and ‘honesty’?!”
Crap.
“Did you even pay attention in class yesterday?!” Kangin let out an exasperated sigh.
“No,” Eeteuk thought, “I was too busy looking at you.”
He was never really sure when their relationship progressed to more than a normal teacher-student relationship. However, one tutoring session did stand out in his mind.
“So,” Eeteuk said carefully, “What counts as benevolence and righteousness depends on the context, and one must first look closely at the reasons behind each example and determine whether the action shows benevolence or righteousness. Right?”
“Yes!” Kangin said excitedly, “You got it! That’s a particularly difficult concept to understand.” He grasped Eeteuk’s shoulder. “I’m proud of you.” Eeteuk gave a deep blush at their first physical contact. He also noticed Kangin was staring at him. For some reason the professor looked as if he was staring at something far away. Kangin lifted his hand hesitantly towards Eeteuk’s face. His breathing sped up. Kangin’s hand came closer to his face every second.
“Your hair,” he said vaguely, “It’s always in your face. How do you study?” In one slow smooth motion, he swept a lock of Eeteuk’s hair out of eyes and tucked it behind his ears. Eeteuk felt weird breathing. He felt Kangin’s warm breath on his face. Unknowingly, they had closed the distance between themselves a great deal.
“Professor,” Eeteuk said breathlessly.
Then as soon as it had all started, it ended. Kangin cleared his throat, obviously flustered, muttered something about having to grade papers, and exited the room, leaving Eeteuk sitting alone in the classroom.
After that tutoring session, everything went back to normal. Well, almost normal. They shared the accidental brush of the other’s fingers, or sat closer to each other, but nothing was said about the previous event.
One day at the end of a tutoring session, Kangin stopped Eeteuk before he could leave.
“Eeteuk, I think we should stop the tutoring sessions.”
Eeteuk’s heart froze. “No,” he thought, “No they can’t end!”
“Please Professor, I can do better. I’ll put more effort in, I promise.”
Kangin sighed. “It’s not that. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. You are doing the best out of all my students. You don’t need these anymore.”
Eeteuk shook his head, biting his cheek to keep the tears from coming. “Sir, I need these. If I stop them, I’ll start failing the class.”
“You’re smart, Eeteuk. You’ll do fine. And besides,” he paused, stood up, and turned his back towards his student, “It’s for the best.”
“The best? The best?! This is the exact opposite of the best. This is the worst!” Eeteuk’s heart was breaking inside. You can’t do this to me!
“No!” Kangin yelled. Eeteuk recalled at Kangin raising his voice. “If you don’t stop this, I still have to! If I don’t stop now, I don’t think I ever will.”
Eeteuk was puzzled. He walked over to Kangin, standing right behind him. “Stop what?” he asked hesitantly.
Kangin turned around to face him. “Stop myself from doing this.” He slinked his arm around Eeteuk’s waist, his breathing becoming hot and heavy. Eeteuk felt his heart speed up to record pace. Kangin leaned in hesitantly, pausing only an inch from Eeteuk’s face, their breaths mingling with one another. He finally seemed to make up his mind, softly placing his lips onto Eeteuk’s.
Warmth shot through Eeteuk’s body. The softness of the professor’s lips, the strength of his arms. It still wasn’t enough for the young angel. He hungrily leaned into the kiss, bringing his arms around Kangin’s neck. He parted his lips, allowing Kangin’s tongue entrance to his mouth.
They deepened the kiss both breathing heavily, until Kangin pulled away.
“No,” he said breathing hard, “I can’t do this. I shouldn’t be doing this.” He looked up at Eeteuk, his eyes filled with remorse. “I’m sorry.” He sat down on a chair, leaning forward and lowering his head in shame.
Eeteuk heart filled with pain. “Rules be damned,” he thought.
He walked closer to his Professor. Cupping the older angel’s face in his hands, and turning it upwards to him. “How can you be sorry for something we both want?” He moved Kangin’s arms, sitting in his lap, and placed his head on Kangin’s shoulder. It was only moments before he felt the teacher’s head lean against his, and placing his arms around his student.
“It won’t be normal. It will be secretive. Possibly painful,” Kangin said to the angel lying in his arms.
“I know,” Eeteuk answered quietly. He paused before saying, “You could get fired, and sent to jail.”
Kangin kisses Eeteuk’s forehead. “I know.” He smiled to himself. “We’re pretty stupid aren’t we?”
“Speak for yourself,” Eeteuk said with a smile. “You just called me smart enough to quit your tutoring sessions a few minutes ago.”
Kangin chuckled, “So I did.”
The bell signaling the end of class brought Eeteuk back to the real world, as it usually did. He waited until all of the students had filed out of the classroom before heading up to the front to sit next to Kangin on the desk facing the chalkboard.
Kangin sighed, “Sometimes I don’t know how I get through class. You just sit there, and stare at me all the time, smiling secretively. Makes me self conscious. It’s like I’ve got spinach in my teeth or something.”
Eeteuk turned to look at his lover, smiling. He wanted to reach out and touch his cheek, lean in for a kiss. But he knew he couldn’t. The door was open, and Kangin’s next class would start coming in about five minutes. “Just do what I do.”
Kangin scoffed, “What? Zone out and ignore my lecture? I think the rest of the class would notice if I went all silent and googly eyed.”
“Aish! So mean! I’m leaving now.” He picked up his bag heading towards the door. They might not have the most perfect situation for their relationship, but Eeteuk had never been happier.

More A/N: I know I told you all that Chapter eight would contain an answer to your questions about Donghae, but I couldn’t help myself. Kangteuk was just sitting there saying “Elleyea, write me! Write me! How can you ignore me like this when I am one of your OTPs.” So I gave up and just had to slip this in. Also just another note, as most of you have already discerned, Kangin is older than Eeteuk in this story. So alter the age-o-meters in your brains.
Ch 9 will have the answer to the Donghae question, I promise!
