a conversation between my cats, about me

HAHAHA!

I once heard that when a cat licks you, it's his way of petting you. Like, the cats think we get the same feeling from his tongue he gets from our hands. Which we don't. At all.

Oats licks me all the time. I've come to the conclusion that she's taste-testing me to make sure I'm not a replicant. Either that or she's tenderizing me. She doesn't think I'm a giant cat. She thinks she's a tiny human.

Animals that do social grooming can do cross-species social grooming. Chimpanzees will pet cats; cats will groom rabbits; humans will pet various critters. It's all social grooming. Lots of animals, including humans, like touching each other for social interaction.
