I'm still sick but now it's almost all concentrated in my nose and sinuses where my cold and my allergies created unholy alliance that creates one swollen and leaking mess. Fortunately we have modern medicine and sudafed combined with allegra can work miracles so I was able to enjoy a nice warm day before it gets cold again (it may even snow on Tuesday). I was even able to go a see a movie.
I watched Muppets Most Wanted. It was weird because it was a little boring to watch - the story isn't really anything particularly engaging - but it also left me feeling all happy and fluffy inside. I don't even know if it was the movie itself or just seeing Muppets is enough to do it for me but feeling nice lasts for hours so far. [Spoilers]I suspect the latter as I'm a little too old for a story about how you shouldn't replace your friend for someone who lets you do anything you want because they don't care and use you and those who care will try to make you better even if it's not always what you'd like. The national stereotypes were also a little cringe worthy (although they may have made fun of themselves for that as people weren't really the nationality they were supposed to be - even guest stars of the shows were Austrian for Berlin and Mexican for Spain - so it was all fake like Constantine's impersonation of Kermit). I also wished there was more interactions between the Muppets - the best part of the last film was concentrating the history and connection that brought them together again - in this movie they mostly interact with new characters (Dominic, Constantine etc.) and don't really even talk with each other until the end.
However, I did enjoy the experience and What sold this film to me were all the small things.
The three main human roles were great from Ricky Gervais long suffering Number 2 Dominic Badguy ([Spoiler]him in lemur costume is probably his greatest moment on film) to Ty Burrell's Jean Pierre Napoleon who makes an awesome comedic duo with Sam the Eagle ([Spoiler]they actually almost solve the whole thing) to Tina Fey's Nadia who was both badass ([Spoiler]see all the thwarted escape plans - including the taseing) and funny.
I loved the whole Gulag sequence (even the lack of consistence about Russian - it was sometimes real Russian and sometimes the pseudo version with Cyrillic letters in English words in pretty random way) - all the prisoners were great and so was Ivan the Guard cameo - it was the best part. There were a lot of great cameos ([Spoiler]my favourite was Zach Galifianakis reprising the role of Hobo Joe), some really cool jokes ([Spoiler]I loved the "It was only 800 years old") but what I really loved was the songs. From the first one below through Tina Fey's Big House and Constantine/Dominic duet and my favourite interrogation song to the big finale.
