To see what you imagined through someone else's eyes
Studio Ghibli is making its first anime series and it's based on the book by Astrid Lindgren Ronja the Robber's Daughter. I loved Astrid Lindgren books as a kid. I already said that multiple times. I love all the adaptations but now that I'm grown up this is the one that I'm most excited about. Ronia is brave and curious and when the adults refuse to listen to her she makes them. I hope she will be as awesome in the adaptation. The first picture certainly looks pretty.
Neil Gaiman has some new information on two of the adaptations of his books. They are completely separate despite the books sharing the universe so we'll have the grounds for comparison if this pans out. American Gods where first optioned by HBO but it didn't work out and now FremantleMedia North America has acquired rights to adapt it for television. Still, there is no network nor time frame so it may not work exactly like the last time. At the same time RED is adapting Anansi Boys as a miniseries for BBC. This has actually pretty good chances to show up on our screen some time in the near future.
And NBC assures that in Constantine adaptation the titular character will be blond and British. I'm sure that this made certain parts of internets feel both validated and sad they cannot rage against it at the same time. I've noticed that the older I get the less I care about adaptation inaccuracies and the more I'm entertained by the fandom outrage. This obsession with the faithfulness of the adaptation is usually completely misplaced and if it's really bad the movie/tv series will be bad too and it will fail and if it's entertaining and not too offensive it'd something fun too watch - like the Constantine movie (Tilda Swinton and Peter Stormare made this one awesome to me). And you can always treat it as an alternate reality version.
