Bad news sell better and most of the good news is boring (who cares that billions of people haven't been murdered today?) so it's important to sometimes just look at the world and see it doesn't just go to hell. With all the news showing how much there is still to do and how much horrible things happen and how much inequality is still around us and how much we can still screw up the world it's easy to forget how much better the world we live in now is compared to what it used to be. I'm sitting here, well fed and worm despite minus temperatures outside with easy access to water, sewer and transportation. And internet. And even though, on the global scale, I'm one of the privileged I'm also one of the millions (hundreds of millions) who live life like that. This is an enormous progress and a lot of it happened very quickly. It sometimes hard to comprehend how much the world has changed in relatively short amount of time.
