Things I learned today

Some very useful terms from different languages. I've always wanted a word that means sunlight filters through the trees. And mångata is one of my favourite sights.I also felt dépaysement - the feeling that comes from not being in one's home country -- of being a foreigner, or an immigrant, of being somewhat displaced from your origin. And Malazan books for me often result in feeling goya that describes the suspension of disbelief that can occur, often through good storytelling.

The BBC published a list of all the countries it's planing to simulcast the 50th Anniversary Doctor Who special, The Day of the Doctor and the TV stations it's going to be on. It's mostly local versions of BBC Entertainmet (like in Poland). Here, of course, BBC America. 75 countries total; all over the globe. I think it's some kind of record.

This is the bestest thing ever and I want one so it can smother me in my sleep.
