Happy Ada Lovelace Day!

I got my copy of The Apocalypse Ocean. I got it for supporting it on Kickstarter and it's signed by Tobias Buckell. I could write down what dedication I want on the address submission page. It's funny how much more personal it feels when it's in Polish. I didn't even touch the book so it can be preserved in pristine condition. I have the e-book already anyway :)

You may also get a special book as tor.com has sweepstakes for five ARC copies of Ben Bova's Farside. Science Fiction you can read before everyone else - it's almost like a personal time travel (or superpower).

In sadder news Gail Simmons have been fired by DC and will no longer write Batgirl. Many fans question why writer (and some other people of creative team) were fired from one of the bestselling and critically acclaimed series and suspect that it had something to do with her views and plans for the character and supportive cast. For me it's sad ecause there is so little women writing comics, especially superhero comics connected to big franchise, that loss of everyone of them is a big event. It also one of the things that keeps the cycle of "girls don't read comics" - "comics are not made for girls" going.
