Fringe was new tonight and it had extradose of Lincoln Lee. In a way he became my favourite character on Fringe because he's not bogged down by guilt and/or destiny of the universe shattering proportions (just a standard dead partner one and only the new Lincoln). And today's episode was about both the partner death and two Lincolns.
[Spoiler (Fringe - Everything in Its Right Place)] Lincoln is dead. My favourite one. I felt this was going to happen (one of Lincolns dieing) and I felt it will be the alt!Lincoln (in this episode) as it looks like they are setting up the prime universe one with Altlivia (and prime!Lincoln has more screen time). I'm bummed because I really like both Lincolns but the altUniverse one was the one we met first and he was my favourite. I liked his confidence and sense of humour and friendship with his Olivia. I shipped them. Now, it seems, she and prime!Lincoln are to become an item. And it's weird as for both of them it will be the replacement person. For her replacement of her best friend. For him replacement for Olivia he lost to Peter version. Not a good relationship. I also wonder if it can survive in the wake of Peter/Olivia fated mating. You know - the so special one that produces "the child of two universes" and required the whole (two) universe(s) reset just to make it happen. How can it be special anymore if there are other people from different universes getting together (and having kids). And you know Peter only has one kid in him - the future version never had any more children with right Olivia.
Of course, that's just nitpicking. It's nothing compared to broken timeloops (the Machine) or breeding program destiny (BSG really soured me on that). And I only say it because i care.
I liked other elements of the episode. The alt!Team is always a joy. The batman thing was great. I loved Lincolns banter and life stories check. Altlivia was her badass markswoman self. Evil!Nina was evil (but still proud of Olivia(s)).
I loved how the other universe is healing and how everyone out there knows. Generally the alt!Universe seems like a much nicer place and I'm not surprised Lincoln wants to hang there.
And I liked that the arc plot moved forward. And that this move didn't involved Peter (this episode had little Peter and was better for it - I adore Joshua Jackson ever since Mighty Ducks but Peter was always Fringe's weakest character). Walter got his own shapeshifter. Alt!team has evil!Nina and the lab and they seem closer to finding Broyles has been replaced.
And from the previews it seems next episode will be even more arc heavy. YAY.
