Weekend, finally

I missed Nikita last week because I went to the movies but I finally had time to catch up today and I loved it. I love how it has so many women as both protagonists and antagonists and how each of them has her own goals. I love how they are working together on some things and against each other on others. I also like they keep introducing new ones. It's so rare - especially for the action/sf shows - to be female driven. I attach better to female characters but most of the female driven shows are dramas (or worse teenage dramas). I love Revenge but I just care more for genre shows. This means Nikita is perfect for me (the only thing better would be if it was in space but one can't have everything). Of course it also has very low ratings and is basically gone already. It's just my curse to like unpopular things. I checked and - for example - my enjoyment of CW shows is inversely proportional to their ratings. I don't know if it's something wrong with me or with everyone else.

Another thing that filled me with joy was Fringe. One of the things I liked most about new universe was Olivia's and Nina's relationship. I think it made them both happier and I was so disappointed when it turned out Nina was experimenting on Olivia. So I was thrilled to learn the Nina who did that was an impostor. I figured out which one was the real one pretty quickly and I'm glad Olivia did too. I was not as fond of her loosing her life and being all about Peter when all he cares about is going home. But learning more about Observers was interesting. I like that they of human origin - it explains at least their looks. I want more so much but, of course, it's on hiatus again. And, of course, Fringe's ratings are abysmal too.

Series 4 of Being Human just started on BBC America. Rationally, I know I cannot blame the creators and show for almost all the old cast leaving. Aidan is doing Hobbit in New Zealand and both Russell and Sinead just wanted out. But this means all we have left is Annie and some other people I don't really care about. In a way it would've been easier if she Lenora left too as then there wouldn't be such a disparity in feeling of attachment. I could learn to love them as I did with Becoming Human as I got to know them. The fact that I liked Leo and Pearl more then Hal doesn't help either. He so tightly wound up and neurotic it's almost sad to watch. Good thing that we at least knew Tom before this series. With the whole messiah storyline it's hard for show to find time to delve into the stories and motivations of characters and develop the bonds between them as they did in series 1 so they just doing Hal. I miss the friendship.

I'm also not fond of the whole Eve storyline. Part of me wishes that, since Russell and Sinead both decided to leave anyway, show just went with George, Nina and the baby going into hiding somewhere far, far away where they could have a normal life. Instead of with have three people not really fit two take care of a baby and, especially the one threatened by her future self. I however love the Vampire Recorder - asthma and t-shirts and the sex. Best knew character even if he'll turn out to be more evil the anyone (I'm beginning to think Eve has to die for vampires to die too and that what was in the third part and I'm not sure if he knows that).
However, as always, I'm loving the mix of drama and humour. I laughed out lout several times - from guys reacting to the dark comment to anything involving Mark Williams' character (even the creepy sex thing because the resolution was just perfect). I knew he'd be fun as soon as I saw his ritual killing get-up and I like how he left the scene. Still, Ivan and Daisy were cooler.

Speaking of Mark Williams - they just went a little overboard with Harry Potter references. From Prince Harry to ending up with J.K. wannabe. Even the Team Edward t-shirt was more then vampire rooting for vampire on him.
