My brother Roy has passed away. (Funny, how I consciously use euphemisms. I think they're silly, but it sounds too crude to simply say it

*hugs*, hon. It doesn't seem weird at all for you to have this kind of reaction - there's a difference between knowing something is coming at you, and then actually having it hit.

I hope you regain your balance soon (and find that silly missing day, too).

I swear, my sister's next! Last night, when they couldn't get ahold of me because I wasn't home, she called and left a hateful message on my voice mail. This morning someone told her I was planning on calling the local paper and she called and ordered me not to because the mortuary was going to send out an obituary. I said that I wasn't planning on putting an obituary in, but sending it to them as a news item in the form of "former local resident dies at 56". She started screaming at me and ordered me not to call the paper and I hung up on her.

She is just a control freak and she wants to be in charge of everything. I know it's probably silly of me to get angry over this, but informing the local paper is about the only contribution that I can make and in some way it will make me feel better.
