This Sucks
I just talked to my niece. My (much) older brother -- her uncle -- in Virginia has been on life support for over two weeks now. Friday they're going to take him off. They're waiting for Friday to give the family time to get there. Jenny, her mom (my oldest sister) Bev, my sister Dorothy and Dorothy's son Joe are leaving tomorrow. Jenny asked me if I'd like to ride along, but I declined. I don't feel I have anything to contribute to the situation and I'd just as soon not remember Roy as he looks now. He's comatose, so it's not like he'll know if I'm there or not, and Jenny and Joe are better suited, I think, to support their cousins through this difficult time.
He's been so sick for so long, I honestly believe he'll be better once he's made the transition to whatever awaits us beyond this life. Still, as I say, it sucks. :(
