So me and one of my co-workers went to see the Avenue Q tour last night.
Simply put, it was amazing, hilarious, and I'm just as impressed by how some of serious scenes were very well-acted, especially from the guy who played Princeton/Rod, aka Robert McClure. The woman who played Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut, Anika Larsen, had some very emotional and heartbreaking scenes as well.
Anyway, after the performance, the cast member that played Gary Coleman informed us that they were taking donations for a woman's organization, and if we donated at least $40, we'd be able to get a poster signed by all the cast members.
I wanted one. Really badly. But they were only accepted cash for the poster, and I didn't have enough. I asked one of the workers if there was an ATM machine in the building. He told me there wasn't one in the building, but there was one in the parking structure, orchestra-level and across a bridge. The cast members were the ones that were holding the donation buckets and the posters, so I asked my friend if she could ask one of them if they could wait for a little while I got cash for the poster and I RAN LIKE NO OTHER to the ATM machine.
I found it pretty easily, no line, ALL RIGHT.
I put in my card, speed through, cash withdrawel, ask for $40. Come on, come on, come on...
...THIS TRANSACTION CANNOT BE COMPLETED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CALL YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION.
"...WHAT???"
I try again. Same thing. I try TWO OTHER CARDS. SAME THING!!
"Maybe it's not me... maybe it's the machine..." I let the people behind me try.
They get their money.
WHAT???
I try a couple more times. Still the same thing. ...THIS TRANSACTION CANNOT BE COMPLETED AT THIS TIME. PLEASE CALL YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION.
"I DON'T HAVE TIME TO CALL!!!"
Finally, I gave up, called my friend back. "Bleeeehhh... the ATM wouldn't give me any money and I tried so many times. ;_;"
"Well, the cast members had to leave. But one of them said they got enough donations so they gave you a poster anyway."
"...ARE YOU SERIOUS."
So I got my pretty pretty poster. ♥ ♥ ♥ The woman who played Christmas Eve (aka Sala Iwamatsu) ended up being the sooper sooper nice individual. ♥ My friend said she expected me to make a donation sometime, like if I ever go see another show at that place.
And here's a photo of sooper-giddy me and the poster
RAAAARRRRRRR. Half-Rod poker poster faaaaceeee.
I have to find a frame for the poster now. ♥
