More Dark is Rising angst

Apparently the Dark is Rising movie isn't showing at any of the Alamo Drafthouses in town. That sucks because I want to get really, really drunk while watching that movie (so I have an excuse when I start crying/ranting/having seizures). What will I do?

Those of you who say "just don't go to the movie" have no understanding of my geeky masochism. (Although you should- you all went to see the Star Wars prequels, right?) This film will nag at me until I can find out just how bad it really is. I'm hoping it goes into "so bad it's good" territory- the leaked plot details (there's a snake battle, Will has an evil twin) seem to be pointing that way.

In other Dark is Rising updates, Susan Cooper (the author) was interviewed on NPR earlier today. She said, and I quote, "You do have to do violence to a book to make it into a screenplay - the two mediums are so different. But the alteration is so enormous in this case. It is just different."

That's polite, older British lady for "I hope those
motherfucking assholesrot in
the special hellfor what they've done to my book!"

The whole interview is up online here.
