The drama never ends

Yesterday my mother was rushed to the hospital. She just suddenly passed out. I saw the whole thing happen. One minute she was doubled over with stomach cramps (I told you it runs in the family) and the next she told me she felt like she was going to faint. She stood up and I approached her to help her to the bed but she just collapsed in my arms. Weakling that I am, I couldn't support her weight but I managed to cradle her head so it didn't hit anything. What was most scary was the fact that she not only lost consciousness for perhaps a minute but that her eyes were open the entire time. She had this vacant, glassy stare. And I kept gently shaking her face to get her to respond but she didn't. I screamed downstairs for my dad then called 911. She came to and was very disoriented and groggy. She had no idea where she was or how she wound up on the floor of the bedroom. But she was then conscious enough to (weakly) yell at me for calling an ambulance. Both my parents are "I don't want to go to the hospital" people. ::rolls eyes:: Yeah, you passed out with your eyes open. Like I"m not going to call 911. Sure.
The firemen were the first to arrive. What a bunch of sweethearts they were. They managed to stabilize her with oxygen and took her pressure which was kind of low. Then there was a cop car, which surprised me. Then the ambulance finally came and took her away, my mother protesting the whole time until I told her I spoke with her regular doc and he said she SHOULD go to the hospital. So she relented. We could tell she was getting better though because as they were wheeling her out of the house, she said, "Oh no! My beautiful rug. No one took their shoes off!" That got a chuckle from everyone.
My mom told the EMTs that she wanted me to be in the ambulance with her because my dad isn't too 'with it'. I felt bad for him, but she's kind of right. He was going to follow us in the car but I was watching him get his coat on and he didn't look well at all. I finally told him to stay home and that I'd have one of my brother pick him up. He was fine with that.
Got the ER, they took her right away to a room and ran tests on her. Everything was normal: electrolytes, potassium, EKG, CT scan, everything. The doctors seem to think that she fainted as a result of severe diahrrea (I can never spell that word. Must be a mental block) and her hypertension meds (she's on 3). But she stayed overnight, much to her dismay. She's still there. I think it was the medication, personally, along with stress. This same thing happened to her a few times before. One incident she wound up in the hospital for it too. She's also worried about me with the colonoscopy and she was worried about my cousin who's having a severly bad pscyhological reaction to her epilepsy drugs (she and my aunt were on the phone all morning before my mom fainted). I think all that stuff was too much for her system. ::sigh:: She seems ok now. But the doctor really needs to do something about the combination of drugs she's taking. It's probably making her pressure too low, you know? Well, that's that for now. It was very frightening. Thank God I was home because my dad's half deaf and he would never have heard my mom.
