Rocky Mountain Hell

Today, I discovered one of the outer rings of Hell. Not the Very Special Level of Hell, the level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater. But still. Hell.

I had to go to JoAnn's for some yarn for a project... not coincidentally, I'm making the Jayne hat from Firefly. Had to go somewhere close to work. So I'm in the store, and you know, you go in knowing that JoAnn's inventory is limited, but it's just for a quickie project that I owe someone. So I'm in there and they don't have all three colors I need in any of the lines they carry. But okay, I go with it, and I improvise.

Then, the needles. They do not carry any 16" circulars, unless you want the least-desired size 13s. (For those of you sad souls who don't knit, size 13 needles are bigger than the fat pencils they gave you in Kindergarten. Bigger.) Seriously. What the hell are you knitting with gauge 13s that is 16-inches around??? So I'm trying to figure out how to punt, given the selection, and a John Denver tune comes over the PA system.

Yes. Rocky Mountain High.

Screw circulars. I went with DPNs and beat it the hell out of there... and yes, was actually relieved when the door opened for me and I made it outside.
