And now: Off to Stonington Farmers' Market - wearing my
HARD LUCK CAFE: Bordertown T-shirt!
Which reminds me that I meant to tell you:
As we were driving up here to Maine from Readercon, we stopped at a roadside joint for BBQ. The guy behind the counter was very friendly - he'd just come back from a memorial for his "second mother," and inclined to chat. He looked at my shirt and said, "Now, where is Bordertown?"
I told him about the books, even gave him a
WELCOME TO BORDERTOWN postcard (leftover from Readercon) . . . and when we were picking up our order, he looked at the T-shirt again and said, "Oh, it says 'Hard Luck'! I thought it was real."
And suddenly I realized that I had just fallen into one of my own books - or come This Close, anyway.
