Headed to Columbus, OH on Thursday for WFC. I'm not on any panels, but am giving a 30-minute reading on Friday at 4:00 p.m. I'll probably read from
The Man with the Knives -- if you're one of the people who doesn't want to buy one of the last remaining copies by check, know ye that I'll be bringing copies with me to sell at the con (and I think they'll also be in the Dealers' Room at Mike Walsh's table). Please don't be shy about coming up to me to say Hi or ask me to sign something; if I'm late for something & don't have time, I'll let you know, but otherwise I'm always happy to stop. (Oh, and BTW: There's not an author on the planet who's heard "I love your work!" too many times. When people preface praise with "You're probably sick of hearing this...." I'm afraid I always laugh and want to kiss them.)
I'll also be engaging in the traditional mass-madness-all-authors signing at the con on Friday night (and probably as usual arriving late because dinner never really ends at 8:00. . . but hold out for me, I'll be there!), and also doing the
public Barnes & Noble event on Saturday 11-1. And on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. we're having an unofficial
Interstitial Arts Foundation get-together in the hotel bar. If you're interested in IAF, come and join us; we'll be talking about plans for this year, and asking people what they'd like to see the IAF doing, and how.
Meanwhile, author
Cindy Pon has posted some
great photos from the last con we were at this month, Sirens (Vail, CO). They really express the spirit of the weekend. And I was really touched by her caption for
deliasherman : "we had quite a few lovely conversations during the con. i loved her calming, quiet yet engaging energy." Delia & I went to Sirens knowing hardly anyone, and I know that Delia, in particular, worked really hard to make sure she got to know people who were either shy, had never heard of us, were scared of us, or just didn't know what to do next. It's great to know that Cindy felt the love . . . we sure loved meeting her, and everyone else.
So don't let us feel like we have spinach between our teeth! Come say Hello, and let's talk about art and life.
