VITAL THEATRE COMPANY produces original full-length plays for adults on its main stage, presents Vital Signs, an annual festival of one-acts from where, to date, 24 plays have gone on to publication, and, over the past 10 years, has commissioned, developed and produced over 30 original musicals for children. The company's education wing, Vital Voices, has influenced the lives of over 68,000 NYC students. VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is also the lead partner of
Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School in Canarsie, Brooklyn, in integrating theatre arts into the humanities curriculum. As Linda Key put it: Think of these every high school has. We don't have any. We need them all.] The Company has received two American Theatre Wing Awards for Continued Commitment to Excellence in Theatre and is a six-time winnenr of the Off-Off Broadway Review's Award for Excellence. In addition, the New York Theatre Experience named Vital Theatre Company the 2002 and 2004 Theatre Company of the Year. Over 150,000 audience members and more than 3,000 artists have participated in a Vital Theatre Company production, creating a vibrant and vital community.
