Writing Update

I decided to put aside my half-finished draft of "Courting the Witch" to do a bit of setting research for "The Fair Emilia," to which I've added about 1,000 words today, making it about 3,300 total. I've still got to do some work on the last several pages and then probably go back and tighten a few things, maybe add a few more.

Though its setting is relatively non-specific, I'm setting it loosely in New England shortly after the Civil War, so I got bogged down today reading websites with things like biographies of Louisa May Alcott, the history of Concord, MA, the history of Shelton, CT, the history of plumbing, and how pianos are made.

I'd like to get back to my new story, but "The Fair Emilia" is closest to being ready for an upcoming deadline, and I need to get it the rest of the way there!
