maggiedr tagged me for the meme going around where you pick up any book, go to p. 123, and blog the fifth line.
I picked up Music of Falling Water by Julia Oliver, a novel somebody gave me a couple years back and its languished in my to-read pile ever since.
"When she realized she was failing, Miss Kitty began to spend all day, every day, in a high-backed rocking chair placed, with her foot-pedaled cuspidor, in the wide hall, where she could see the comings and goings."
I don't know much about the novel or the author, and don't recall who gave it to me, which is probably why I haven't been interested enough to pick it up yet. If I thought my sister gave it to me, I'd be much more likely to read it, but I suspect it may have been my Mom, and we don't always share the same tastes in books. From the blurb, it appears to be some sort of Southern Gothic thing set in 1918. Actually, once I'm done with all my TNEO critiques, I could use something different to read, so maybe I'll give it a try.
Ok, I'm tagging five people but I haven't been keeping up with lj very well lately, so my apologies if I tag someone who has already done this. Of course, if you read this and see your name and don't want to do it, you can always pretend you didn't read it.
