I'm officially going to
TNEO now that I've verified I can get a plane ticket for a decent price. I'd be crazy not to go, since I need a huge kick in the pants to make progress on the novel rewrite/edits.
I just finished the second volume of The Orphan's Tales by Catherynne M. Valente. Wow! I've been enjoying the books immensely, but was afraid I might be unsatisfied at the conclusion, as lots of very good writers these days don't seem to want to Wrap Things Up at the end. She does, and brilliantly. Just read them.
Now, I will have to put off any purely "for fun" reading for the next while as any day now I expect to get the top secret list of nominees for the
Mythopoeic Award, all of which I will be reading over the next couple of months.
Oh yeah, and I've got a stack of nonfiction books on opera staring me in the face, waiting for me to start brainstorming about my "Female Power in Opera" paper.
I guess I won't run out of things to do anytime soon.
