More terrific cat stories needed

My reprint anthology is going well, but I'd like some more suggestions of GREAT cat stories--from after 1980. So forget the obvious ones like "Spacetime for Springers ( Read more... )

anthologies, cats

Sorry if this has been suggested already. I couldn't access the link. What about A Dance for Emilia by Peter S. Beagle. It's a lovely story, but perhaps it might be too long?

It asked me to sign into google and once I did said I didn't have access to the page or something like that. You should definitely check it out. It's been awhile since I read it, but I remember it being very sweet.

Here's the link on amazon:

Nuts. what do you see when you try to access it?

Anyway, it hasn't been suggested although a different Beagle has been --I don't recall having read "A Dance For Emilia"--I'll look it up. How long is it do you know? It looks like a short novel from the description on amazon.

I have it here somewhere so I'll look. It says it's a novella, but I remember it being a very small book with smaller than usual pages, so I got the feeling he might have just stretched it out a little.

hmmm, it says it can't find the server...

I just looked at the book and it's 87 pages. I don't remember it being that long, lol. But like I said the pages are smaller than usual. Wish I knew the word count. Out of curiosity, what was the other Beagle story suggested?

Try the link in the body of my post again.

I suspect that would be too long. The other one is "Gordon the Self-Made Cat" --which I'm not familiar with but from the title, sounds kind of "thin." I've asked Peter's manager about both of them.

Hurray, it worked! That's quite a list. I can't remember if I've read Peter's other cat story, but it sounds very familiar. Anyway, good luck with your collection. Oh and might I also suggest Angela Carter's Puss-in-Boots?

Thank goodness!

I'd like to use "The Tiger's Bride" by Carter but I don't think I can afford it. I'm in touch with her estate.

I took "Gordon the Self-Made Cat" after all.
