Gadgets!

Was reading ST's Digital Life at 5.30am this morning (because I was so exhausted yesterday night that I slept at 8.30pm after reaching home 15 minutes before that) and they did a review for Leica Digilux 3 and Leica V-Lux 1. I already had an entry on the former and although I DO prefer it because of its classic 60s look and functions, it is nearly 3 times more expensive than V-Lux 1! Even most starting salaries don't go that high HAHA. And it seems that V-Lux 1 is just as terrific!

“All-in-one” : The compact digital camera with the power of a single-lens reflex.
The V-Lux 1 combines top Leica picture quality and performance with the compact size and comfort of a
sophisticated all-in-one-solution : Its first-class LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens offers an extremely wide
focal length range of 35 - 420 mm. The 12 x optical zoom means that you are equipped for every photo situation
- without dealing with changing lenses - from fine macro through high-impact wide-angle scenes to
super-telephoto shots for nature observation. The CCD sensor with a resolution of 10 million pixels and optical
image stabilization technology offers ideal features for brilliant razor-sharp images, even under difficult
conditions. The fully swiveling 2.0" display also allows you to discover unusual perspectives and provides
for precise image evaluation. Designed solely to cater for the requirements and creativity of the photographer,
the LEICA V-LUX 1 offers fast, simple and intuitive operation. With this universal digital camera, photography
in the compact class has never been so professional.

Hmm but apparently it's a compact digital camera, not a DSLR...although the functions seem to suggest it. But whatever it is, I'm totally lusting over it! But I just got my Powershot S80 less than 1.5 years ago, which serves me just fine except I really miss using manual controls for focusing as well as aperture and shutter speed setting just like how it's like on a normal SLR camera. Ergh anyway all this is useless talk since I don't even have the money to buy it in the first place! I need to save for a year to comfortably afford it. Darn. And I'm better off saving it for Geneva anyway. Boo. I miss photography using an (D)SLR. Oh speaking of which, maybe I'll finally get around to putting some of my pictures up on flickr once I have enough free time.

Aannnddd Sony Ericsson has just launched a new line of phones a few days back, one of which is a sleeker version of the current k800i which I've had my eye on for a few months already. It's the k810i Cybershot phone! Since my line would be 21 months old in April, hopefully I'll trade in just in time to get my hands on it! Except I think it'll be too expensive, and the keypad looks a tad odd. Hmm. The main improvements have been in the camera departments only. Oh well, we'll see once it gets here. In the meantime, feast yours eyes!

Following on from the (Mobile Choice) award winning K800i, the K810i keeps
the core elements of the first Cyber-shot phone but adds a new circular keypad design, illuminated
camera icons and Photo Fix photo editing software. The 3.2-megapixel camera lens, Xenon flash and autofocus
still remain, as do the 3G and tri-band capabilities. Sony Ericsson has included illuminated shortcut photo keys on the
1,4,7 and * keys on the main keypad when in capture mode while the PC-free built-in Photo Fix photo editing software
optimises picture quality after capture. The K810i is expected to appear around Springtime and arrives
in Noble Blue and Golden Ivory finishes.
