Check your assumptions. In fact, check your assumptions at the door. (Lois McMaster Bujold.)
Elle's aware that she may not give off the strongest first impression. Little blonde girl, wide blue eyes. Oh, and the fact that she comes off with just the slightest hint of daddy's girl.
But the minute she shows them what she can really do, she goes from being an unassuming little girl to a woman who demands respect.
(Even if it's a respect partly created by fear of electrocution.)
That's half the fun. Sure, she can't go swimming or stand outside in a rainstorm, but those little pleasures don't even compare to the looks on their faces the first time they see the electricity dancing between her fingers.
Peter didn't know how to feel about her at first. But he warmed up pretty quick.
They all did, she thinks to herself, a shiver coursing through her that feels like the best kind of static shock.
It hurts her too, sometimes. That's the part she'll never say out loud.
Because then she'd have to admit that she kind of likes it.
