Yay, someone else who agrees that buying purebreds is a selfish waste of money when there are so many animals needing rescue at the SPCA :D

A friend of mine spent £££ on a very cute purebred Yorkie (from Harrods pet shop no less!) which had to be put down within 3 years due to breeding faults. :( And that was after it had incurred a £7k vet bill from the Queen Mum's Vet hospital. Adorable dog though.

You know, you'll need all the same things for GETTING a dog as you will for fostering dogs from the SPCA, like I do kitties! They give you everything you need (food, bedding, toys etc) and you can volunteer to only foster healthy dogs or puppies or bitches with puppies... whatever suits you. You always have the option to say no, they don't mind, if you don't like the breed or dog. It's really rewarding and you get to spend small parts of your life helping out awesome doggie friends without the committment of getting a dog, though you have first preference and a discounted price if you choose to adopt your foster. Think about it! :)

Someone at work has a dog up for adoption, they said: Small breed male, Cavalier King Charles/Toy Poodle cross, one year old. Has had all the correct and timely innoculations. Genuine reason to find Oscar a new home. Re: price, they said to make an offer. Don't think you'd be interested but you never know!
